Yeah and we are never delusional.

Btw, this board defended Fran and Sherman after going 4-8 in their first seasons.

I don't recall those teams being ranked in top 10

Fran beat Brown two years in a row. I did not defend Sherman. Nice guy but the wrong hire from the start. Even Sumlin benefitted from Sherman's O line but no D. Sumlin also found lighting in a bottle name Manziel coupled with a very good receiving corp. Still no D.

There are still *******s on this board that want to defend Sumlin.

What major college fan base is NOT delusional?

Every fan thinks their team is better than they really are; their team will only get better and never worse; their team can win a title, they have the right coach, etc.

That's normal for passionate alumni of major colleges.
True... but do you know many sips? There's delusional... and then there's sip entitled delusional.

They really believe they are the top program in the country.
They really believe it's the top coaching destination in the country, envied by all coaches.
All other programs are beneath them and of no importance.

Do you know that woman who used to be sort of attractive, but has aged poorly, had too much plastic surgery, but still parades around like she's the bell of the ball? That's tu.

Oh he knows sips. He is one.

As much as I love the taste of Longhorn tears in my morning coffee, your cousin might not be THAT far off.

Texas is probably better than their record shows this year. They have been competitive in every game they have played. With only modest improvement, they could easily be a 1 or 2 loss team in the BDF next year. It seems very similar to the 2011 Aggies and the 2012 Aggies. The 2011 team couldn't finish games and ended up blowing games late. The 2012 season looked like a complete turnaround...

A big part of that turnaround was that we improved considerably at one very important position…

Let me know when Texas pulls out of their ass next year a once in a generation phenom at qb that people talk about for decades to come
I don't think Tannehill was the reason we were blowing double digit leads...

My cousin is a huge longhorn fans. I had a conversation with him this past week about how bad of a place his program is in (mostly rubbing it in because why not?).

Here is just a sample of how delusional that fan base is and how they are thinking about the current state of affairs in Austin.

"Baylor went 1-11 in 2017 and is now a top 10 team. Sark needs time to rebuild the program. The entire staff is from Bama so I won't be surprised if we are back in the top 10 within 2 years"

Had to share this little gem with the Zoo.
If ESPN has anything to do with it they will be in the top ten tomorrow!!!!

Not sure why Baylor is a bad measuring stick. They've won a conference title more recently than any other school in this state.

They will have a losing record this year, even if slipping in the back door to a bowl game and winning it. Their recruits are jumping ship, and there are some serious issues from within their program.......

And the AP will have them ranked, like they do every year, in the Top 20-25 to start the season. It's what the media does, everything they can, to promote the $ips. It will never stop.

He is right about Baylor's quick turnaround. After Baylor fired Art Briles on 5/26/16, Jim Grobe stepped in as the interim head coach for 2016. Baylor started 6-0 that season before losing their last 6 regular season games to fall to 6-6. Then, Baylor crushed Boise State 31-12 in the Cactus Bowl to finish 7-6.

Baylor had hit rock bottom and finished 1-11 in Matt Rhule's 1st season in 2017. Dating back to the last 6 regular season games of 2016, Baylor had lost 17 of 19 games. In Matt Rhule's 2nd season in 2018, Baylor was much improved and finished 7-6 with a 45-38 win over Vanderbilt in the Texas Bowl. Then, Matt Rhule led Baylor to an 11-1 regular season and appearances in the Big 12 Championship Game and the Sugar Bowl in 2019. As a result of that tremendous turnaround, the Carolina Panthers hired Matt Rhule to be their head coach in 2020.

Dave Aranda replaced Matt Rhule and went 2-7 in an all-Big 12 schedule in his 1st season last year. Baylor is currently 9-2 and ranked No. 9. If Baylor beats Texas Tech and Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma, Baylor will play Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship Game.

In 2019, the only 2 good Big 12 teams were OU and Baylor. Everyone else was mediocre at best. KState, t.u. and OkState all won 8 games, but they either had to beat an FCS team to do it, or win their bowl game. Plus, Baylor barely beat 5-7 WV and TCU teams and a 7-5 Iowa State team.

If the Big 12 is like was this year, t.u. can't replicate that record with only what Baylor did. They'd need a much more significant improvement.
