Rumor Control -

Lived in Lexington, KY (the state, not the jelly) from '98-'13…

Golfing buddy of mine was former WR at UK and Baltimore Colts (was Ed Simonini's road roommate with the Colts - strange coincidence)…

There's a high likelihood that Mark Stoops will be the next LSU HC… it may already be agreed to privately…

Makes sense… Lower buyout, less required salary than Jimbo…

Take it for what it's worth…

If they announce Title IX issues in order to get rid of O buyout, it could significantly impact any coach wanting the job…

If no Title IX issues, $ 17 mill buyout…

LSU could easily split the difference here. Tell O to take a position within the university for a lower salary and they don't throw him under the bus. Blame Title IX issues on the mad hatter.

Agree 100%. I think either would be a very solid hire. I think I would go with Dave aranda over stoops. He was their head coach in waiting and now he has HC experience. He has done a pretty damn good job at Baylor he knows the lay of the land at LSU.

I think so too. He has more buy-in and support in Lexington than he ever will at LSU.

Aranda would be a better choice. Baylor is going nowhere after the sips and sooners leave the Big XII. Not that relish that thought either. He's a damn good coach.

If Stoops is smart he makes UK pay him what they can and stays there. With A&M looking strong, Alabama being Alabama, Auburn and Ole Piss and the sips and zeroU idiots coming things are gonna get a lot more caustic west of the MS. LSU ain't gonna have a ton of patience. Better to sit in Lexington and only have to fight UGA and Florida on a yearly basis as opposed to the schools in the West. Now if Alabama and AU get moved east, that is a different matter.

That would be a good hire but I've heard Stoops has one of the higher buyouts in the SEC

My cousins, 2nd step uncle, on my step dad's side, who had a 3rd cousin, knew someone that knew mark stoops dad. That person, who knew Mark, had a 3rd uncle, that was good friends with Mark… they just said it isn't a done deal… take it for what it's worth

It's super rare for someone to stay in the organization like that. Only one that comes to mind was the Giants old coach, was it Tom Couhglin? And he was just super old so he moved to the front office, I think.

If anyone can get Kentucky to being ranked with some consistency, he's a great coach. If we were looking for a coach, which we aren't and won't be anytime soon, I wouldn't mind taking a look at him.

UK is and always will be a basketball school.

At LSU, football is king. It'll be hard for Stoops to turn down.

I think he would leap to the LSU job. Better recruiting, more notoriety, much better upside. That's a dream hob for any Div 1 coach outside of a few. I bet if it's real it's a five minute decision while taking a nice poop.
