Dunking my ring soon….. hit me with your best strategies to do it the right way.

Open your mouth and swallow….

1. Use a stout.
2. Make sure it's as cold as possible.
3. ???
4. Profit.

Let the beer warm up a bit.

Warm beer is easier to chug.

Drink at least one beer, cold preferably, before you dunk. Gotta get acclimated to drinking carbonated beverage before you go full bore.

Use a pitcher not a mug

Respect the username. Don't eat anything 3-4 hours before.

Whatever you do, don't make it into some damn event. Get a few buddy's, Drop your rings, and and rip it however fast/slow you want. Rings dunks are ridiculously commercialized now. My folks came up to have lunch with me after I got my ring. Then they were sent on their way and me and a buddy went down to the brazos with a cooler of busch light. Cracked 5 of em each and poured them into some old plastic ice tea pitchers we had at the house. Got our rings in about 5 minutes. Then proceeded to kill the rest of the cooler on the bank that day. Damn good ring dunk.

Question, when did this ring dunk start? Mine was mailed to my folks house and I put it on after I got home from summer camp at Ft. Sill.

It was definitely a thing when I got to campus in '87.

In college, I was at a party where a few people dunked their rings.

One guy was already pretty wasted but was doing well...about 3/4 of the way done.

Then he paused.

Then he threw up into the pitcher.

Then he finished the pitcher.

Don't be still recovering from bronchitis and have a hard time breathing through your nose.

2. Pour it back and forth in two pitchers to make it flat
3. Go and don't stop
4. Don't spill
5. Time is all that matters, throwing up is optional

I had chugged one beer my entire life not that I hadn't drank plenty of beer. 24seconds. Proud day!!!

Close...agree to let it warm. Put a pinch of salt in the pitcher of beer - pulls out the carbonation.

Ooops. Me and 2 of my buddies did it at The Chicken. There was about 50 friends/family standing around. It was kinda a big deal.

So, My best friend's son is getting his ring Friday and he told his dad that Rink Dunk is now a ceremonial thing. He wants his dad to present his ring to him. He is going to have his GF's parents there and his dad for the ceremonial ring dunk.

I'm class of '94 and all that we did was meet up with our buddies at the chicken and drunked our rings together.

Is this a New Army ceremonial thing, or is this kid just making up his own ring dunk ceremony because he doesn't have friends and wants his parents there?

Ice cold pitcher of yuengling!!!! Legend status achieved after that!!!

It's become a big party for ags getting their rings, mostly just and excuse for us youngins to throw a party

bruh....I had a rager. One of the better parties of my young life. Things got really out of hand, and I look back on it fondly lol.

2. stir it, breaks up the carbonation.
3. get beer, had one lady do it in jack and coke....she was throwing up before she was done. It's only like 6 beers, if you can't handle that you didn't college right.

I thought the point was to enjoy the beer, not get it done as fast as possible. Power drinking is a marathon, not a sprint. And shouldn't the whole experience be savored and not rushed?

Used to be about "beating your class year"

So they did like 98 seconds or whatever until the millennium changed, then went over to 1 minute X seconds.

I did it with cold beer straight from the keg. Barely finished on time, but I did. I'd recommend the tips here about letting it warm/de-carbonating it first.

Also every ring dunk I went to was pretty much a rager. Then again, most of my friends in college became alcoholics at about 18 and it was pretty much a miracle we had stuck around long enough to get a ring in the first place. Definitely saw someone pull the stunt AggieArchitect mentioned once.

It's true about the cold and the carbonation... let that pitcher sit out for an hour.

58 seconds I think? Can't remember. Time wasn't all that significant for me, just finish fast as you can and don't put the pitcher down.

None spilled until 60 seconds after I was finished..

Great night, my dad and roommates dad were there. Roommates pops chugged with us bc it was his ring day too. We were the first in our fam to graduate college I think so our dads were really proud and it was cool to share it with them and I look back on it to fondly. Several friends over as well.
