You know what would be really interesting? What if he was about to lose his starting job to an up-and-coming underclassman?

Texas UIL rules prohibit using NIL to make money so Quinn will forgo his senior year to enroll at Ohio State and start making money. I know folks on this BB are very concerned about tu and OU joining the SEC, but the most serious and far reaching problem is NIL. So, do you expect the UIL to change their rule? Or more players to opt out?

It's not NIL, its pay for play. No one really cares about his endorsement. These are just rich alumni who have legalized cheating so they can pay to get the best players. This is the end of college football. It's pro football now. For this reason, I predict you'll see incoming freshmen like Ewers getting paid more than upperclassmen.EllisCoAg said:
i am just surprised at the amount of NIL $$$ going to freshmen and players who hadn't played a down yet, just mind boggling.

NIL isn't what 'they' say it is. It is merely unlimited institutionally approved paid benefits.

It's not at all about a fair compensation for the money the schools make on their likeness or abilities. If it was it would only be about profit sharing requirements for schools. And there would be a % that's approved across the board.
don't disagree with this, though its no said openly. its a wink wink nudge nudge.Quote:
With the fact that anyone can now pay an athlete, NIL is just a wide open approval to do what was considered cheating a year ago. Recruiting pitch: "Come here and you'll get a million dollars from someone else". And somehow this is ok.

It's both. Some of these deals are boosters/fans, but some are just advertising deals.
Like this one with Ewers. That $1.4mm is really nothing for this card company and they will make a profit off of it.
