With the amount of money TAMU and it's former students produce, we should be able to pay our players more than anyone in the nation, which should be a major recruiting advantage.
I'm in favor of NIL, but that doesn't mean the scholarship doesn't represent value received.rootube said:jsmc71 said:
I've been reading most of the NIL posts/replies and wondering what the student-athletes supposedly receive in dollar value when they get a scholarship. Per SFAID - Cost of Attendance (tamu.edu), it's $31.5k for fall and spring semesters only. I assume that's bare-bones living (no cell phone or cable/streaming; no going out ever and no eating at off-campus restaurants ever; no buying electronics/clothes or other non-essential things ever). Either that or the cost of education hasn't gone up very much in the last 25 years.
Any parent who has paid wanna weigh in on the actual cost for a kid to attend A&M for fall and spring?
Today, to the shock of many college educated Aggies, we discovered that a couple of our football players are worth more than tuition plus room and board.

yes, there's no doubt that this NIL stuff is going to go into places that nobody thought it would...and there will be corruption involved

for all thise making "funny" sarcastic remarks about the OP, please dont complain when what's gonna happen starts happening. this is a trainwreck of a situation in the making. Im surprised (but maybe not really) by how many dont get that what's going on now is going to ruin college sports, with huge trickle downs to high school.

I should rephrase that. There has always been corruption.
This isn't the first time players have been paid.

as a sportscard collector of A&M athletes, I'm curious to see if the big card companies will be using this new policy to produce signed cards of student athletes across the country....

I agree 100% with the OP.
And why would anyone give money to the 12th Man Foundation at this point. I wouldn't want any of my money going to a semi-pro player.

The 12th Man can't pay student athletes.
Scholarships and education are worthless. Everyone knows athletes need some quick cash to be successful in life.Texas A&M said:Scholarships?FtBendTxAg said:Texas A&M said:

Taxes, Hope these kids get the help they will need to keep them out of TaxMan troubles.
This is going to turn into a huge distraction and screw up kids, let's check in with JohnnyFootball and hear what he has to say...
And chemistry, yes that is a problem too...
At first blush, not a fan...
I believe that direct compensation for on field performance isn't permitted under some of the state laws.Proc92 said:
