Weigman wins the Rail Shot challenge!

Figured I, along with everyone, can post highlights or results from the Elite 11 QB camp!

Not sure how the competition works, but is it that hard to pass 30 yards to an uncovered receiver with no one rushing you?

But , i AM thankful it wasnt overthrown

Agreed, if Malik Murphy finished 4th, apparently any mouth breathing, window licking doofus with JV experience can do it.

Damn you all are never satisfied. Our qb commit just took down Quinn Ewers, Ty Simpson and every other top qb in a precision passing challenge and y'all still complain lol.

In this challenge you have to place the ball directly on the outside shoulder away from a would be defender! If the pass is to low or inaccurate, the qb gets eliminated. 2 years ago Haynes King got second in this challenge.

Too bad they don't put out the criteria used in determining results of each event.

All I know about it is they get a lot of instruction. They compete and at the end determine the top 11.

Haynes got first in rail challenge.
Nothing was ever done so systematically as nothing is being done now.

Watch the video. It's extremely hard.

The same throw Tua made to Devonta to win the National Championship

This may be foreign to some but it's called a competition, and you win it on merit, by being better than others.

Haynes & Connor... It's almost as if the Aggie coaching staff know what they're doing!!!

If they called it the "Comeback Route Challenge" this place would be going nuts.

Dudes here complaining about the difficulty of the challenge couldn't even throw a nerf ball that far.

Someone will have to explain it to me . . . look liked a gymnastics scoring process. Guys were completing throws but getting the thumbs down.

Weird how time moves fast in college football. King was competing against TJ Finley, whose has already melted down at Kyle Field, been screamed at unnecessarily by Coach Rosy Finch, and transferred to Auburn.

In this case, the "rail shot challenge", it's all about placement of the ball towards the outside shoulder and hitting the receiver in stride.

It's a really specific throw they're trying to make and so the coaches may deem a throw a "failure" even if the receiver makes the catch.

Last staff had Kyler and Kyle in the same QB room once upon a time.

Nah, not a good measurement because it's impossible to defend

The last big piece to the A&M puzzle is a top class QB. Once we get that we are rocking and rolling. We had JFF but the rest of the team was not as good, but I think we should be in good shape soon.

My opinion is we are already fine at QB and Conner will help even more.

WR is the position keeping us from being stacked everywhere right now.

Agree. Though if Demas lives up to his abilities this year and Chapman resumes where he left off, we're in good shape there.

Question mark is on how long it'll take the OL to jell.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/college/recruiting/.amp/football/elite-11-2021-day-one-quarterback-rankings

SI ranked our QB 17 after day 1. Good thing he won that one challenge they did or I guess they would have ranked him 20. ;-)

It seems like they skipped several names that performed better than Malarky Murphy.

I'm man enough to admit I have no idea what's really going on in that competition; but everyone there seemed to know something good happened.

Thank you for explaining it, and it's exciting that our guy won. That said, the pass you posted was RIPE for an INT if a CB had any decent position.

That's not being negative- just a factual observation that probably points out some of the subjectivityof the competition.

Yes most throws are picks if the DB has good position. Hence why QBs have to read a defense.

This is the same walkoff touchdown pass Tua threw to Devonte Smith on 2nd and long to win the 2017 championship. They referenced that exact throw when they started doing the rail shot competition a few years ago.

Who do folks think is a better QB (regardless of commitment), Cade or Conner?

Saw Cade play at the highest level and look much better than Ewers imho. If Jimbo thinks Conner is as good or better then I'm good with that.

Jimbo offered them both.

That would actually be harder given the lack of weight in a Nerf ball.

I think Cade is the best QB in Texas.

Jimbo offered them both.

But he liked Conner enough to take his commitment when we still had a great shot at Cade. Both are great QBs

What does this mean? Do we typically offer a kid and if he commits within a week of receiving the offer, NOT accept their commitment?

Cade was offered first, Conner a few days later. Conner jumped on it. The rest is history.

Myself, I'm partial to Cade but both are great. It will be interesting to see how both of their college careers turn out.
