I can't speak for the vast majority. My opinion is that it's a dumb law that is on it's last legs and is being swept away across the US. It will eventually fall in Texas.

I'll never understand the deep desire you big government liberals have for being subjugated a powerful government that tells you exactly how to live your life.

Regardless of political opinions and personal feelings about marijuana, I think what is frustrating to some posters is the lack of awareness. Knowing this state and city, right or wrong, weed will be viewed very differently than other legal infractions. Yes we all break the law daily but you have to read the room, so to speak, and not put yourself in that type of situation. The way authority is used by our local law enforcement should make anyone with knowledge of this town be cautious. Laws and emotions dealing with weed are very antiquated and it seems those who enforce it currently still follow the old ways. If Alex had an empty beer can in the back of his truck, I believe, this would have never happened. But weed? Still a whole different story in how it is viewed and that is something you have to be aware of which him growing up here he should know.

I agree with you. My comment about the sorority houses was tongue in cheek just FTR. But I also think if we are just going to ignore certain laws instead of revising them (which in Texas's case, there are a ton of them), the state is setting itself up for these arguments to occur.

The law states, for your lack of reading comprehension skills, you break the LAW speeding you get a citation UNLESS it is a certain amount over which they can take you in. As for pot, pretend I'm using crayons, the penalty for POSSESSION is arrest and classified I believe, no matter the amount. Understand? You have to READ the laws to understand them. Throwing out speeding is not even a comparison for argument because the 2 are different. I've already stated several times, even on this thread, that pot should be LEGALIZED. Please follow along.

I have a LAW DEGREE, I understand the LAW. You can be arrested for POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA but they don't have to arrest you, they can just write you a ticket. Just like speeding, YOU CAN BE ARRESTED FOR SPEEDING, but they can also just write you a ticket and let you go.
