That's certainly a nice upgrade, but I guess I don't understand how it relates to this discussion.
Their need for money is not as dire as some posters here make it out to be; since they are a TAMUS member, the money stays within TAMUS.

2. Many would be there as well as watching it on TV, as it is a matchup of the state's two oldest public land-grant post-secondary institutions (again, they are both older than t.u.) who both are core TAMUS members.
No one knows this or gives a ****

If we win. Sherman tanked his first game against Arkansas State that was then FCS.
Incorrect, Arkansas State was in Division I-A/FBS as a member of the Sun Belt Conference when they defeated us in 2008.

If it is any comfort, like us they too did not qualify for a bowl game that year as well.

Just a factoid and a dig towards t.u.; for what it is worth, no need to get yourself riled up over this...

I'm not a big fan of these games but I accept them for what they are. Provides funding for prairie view, allows us to have players lower on the depth chart get pt, and the ticket value of these games is lower which allows families with kids to come to the game. Someone had the idea of having these games in the spring which I would like better.
Not only that, you also have the TAMUS version of the Battle of the Bands:

  • Fightin' Texas Aggie Band vs Marching Storm (note: this always ends in a tie)

The money stays within TAMUS; that being said here is PVAMU's Panther Stadium at Blackshear Field (Fall 2016-present):

the TAMU system has done a very good job in upgrading Prairie View's facilities --- both athletic and academic. And that's important --- they do not want PV devolving into the mess that is Texas Southern

Actually the PVAMU alums, students, and TAMUS together that provided the necessary funding.

As for the bolded, I see what you did there, because Texas Southern (city college) vs PVAMU (ag college) is the HBCU equivalent of us playing t.u.

A few years ago when they considered doing the KF re-do in two years vs three and playing one season away, everyone pitched a fit because a home game is worth $1M+ on campus and as much as $5M for the community.

It is just something that is said as a made up justification for why this year's cupcake is chosen.

If there was this great support for PVAMU, this wouldn't be the 2nd time the two teams have played.

This will match the number of times A&M has played Transylvania, and we all know how that series went.
Lost to them the first time as they seemed to suck the life out of our offense, but the second time they wilted when we played them in the sunlight and drove a stake through their collective souls.

A&M playing PV every 5 years is probably about right.

the Panthers also rotate FBS games among Rice and Houston.

usually play only 1 money / bodybag game per year

Their band kicks ass and if we're going to play an FCS team I'd prefer it to be one in the A&M system.

Said it before and will say it again. Cut all the cupcakes. No FCS teams. Power-5 only.

Last year's 10-game season was excellent for fans. No dud weeks. Throw in a couple non-conf power 5 matchups and we're set.

I stopped watching the Ags' games vs. the SHSU's, ULL, and Idaho Vandals of the world because they're always either too close for comfort, lop-sided, or just bad performance.

Get rid of 'em

I agree on last season. I don't oppose a strengthening of schedules. But coaches have opposed the nine SEC opponent scheduling and ADs have been clear money-wise last year was a problem in large part due to lack of home games. I think you are correct more quality can create more demand. I am not sure how to get there from here as long as wins, not quality, determines outcomes.

And you personally know they will use win totals to select blue bloods when they can get away with it and exclude Texas A&M with the complicity of the other blue bloods and ESPN. Because it happened this past season.

The best teams should play the best teams as often as possible and the current state of most power 5 teams non-conference schedule is a joke especially the Aggies this season! If power 5 teams were restricted to only playing 1 group of 5 team and 0 FCS teams during non-conference play, college football would not be talking about playoff expansion. During the 2019 season Alabama absolutely demoralized Western Carolina in the middle of November! ( I had never even heard of Western Carolina) Nothing about that game was entertaining and nothing about that game grew the sport of college football. Do not bring the argument to this post stating, "but the small schools need to play the big schools to fund their athletic departments." My plan would allow power 5 teams to schedule 1 group of 5 team at the beginning of the season, and this is college football not socialism the best should play the best!
I can't believe this got a blue star.
