Finally we're getting rid of those tent-looking indoor facilities right by the Kyle field parking lot. I have never liked the way those have looked on the outside!
Currently a happy listless vessel and deplorable. #FDEMS TRUMP 2024.

Silent phase of fundraising has begun on at least 7 different projects. Looks to be huge changes coming.

Anymore details than that?

We were poor and our donors worked to give us some the most innovative facilities in college football and indoor track.

After the Cowboys indoor practice facility incident they knew they eventually needed to replace it. The track had a solid reputation and hosted many events. It also provided a great training facility for our outdoor track NCs.

I am glad they have replacements in the works, too, and certainly an architectural uplift is valuable to the school for marketing and branding purposes. But both were important to our athletic programs and platform. But upward from here!!

Football Indoor is the catalyst for New Indoor Track and New Indoor Tennis. FY 23 for Indoor Football facility.

Golf will expand facilities at Traditions.

Baseball will basically redesign the 3rd base side and add permanent outfield seats in the first phase I'll try to get renderings because the original ones used by 12th man for fundraising has changed a little.

The academic building by the Indoor will be FY24

They will also do updates at the Soccer Stadium along with the golf upgrades.

We have to be close to crossing a line on athletic facilities spending right? I was guessing the new bass pond would cover us but apparently Reed is now trash. Where do we stand with quidditch upgrades? I hear those guys are hogwarts level.

Thanks! Would definitely appreciate any renderings

Our soccer program is a perennial top 10 program and has gone to the NCAA tournament 26 straight times. Soccer is only gaining popularity in the US and it only makes sense to renovate Ellis Field with eventually fielding a D1 Men's soccer team in mind.

Reed was trash when it was built.

We will never field a men's soccer team, at least not as long as Title IX limits scholarships for men's sports.

We won't field one again. Have in the past. Title IX compliance replaced it with the current women's team.

I never had a problem with what they look like on the inside, they were fantastic, from the outside they have always looked like crappy temporary tents.

Hell I'm old enough to remember when the tennis courts were there.

Reed replaced G Rollie so everything is relative if you are calling stuff trash. Apparently G Rollie replaced DeWare field house in 1954 and I'm convinced DeWare was haunted by corps farts from the 1920's so young people don't know how good they have it!

Dang, I miss G. Rollie and DeWare.

They've spent $24M on new men's and women's practice gyms, weight rooms, meeting rooms, lounges, etc.

Not saying a refresh isn't needed, but in fairness they have added pretty decent player amenities.

It would be stupid not to put chairback seating down both first and third baselines. If they literally have to have grass areas, put them somewhere in the outfield! Can your imagine how stupid it would look with seating down one side and no seating down the other?
TommyBrady
How long do you want to ignore this user?

The plan is both sides but it wouldn't be done all at the same time to keep the disruption to current seating at a minimum. I think people will be happy with the final product and will be a huge boost to fan morale

Student-athletes' donations from their "name and likeness" endorsements should cover the costs of whatever facilities "they wish for"!
I would love to know the donation numbers from all these athletes who make it to the big time after all the help these schools provide.

I'd bet 90-95% of them never donate anything back

Indoor as in indoor practice facility? What about the academic building?

At the end of the day, the jocks are still as dumb as a box of rocks.

We should be dropping those dollars on the sciences for all rather than a few muscle heads that won't amount to much after their 15 minutes r up.

You guys wanted a football factory and that is what we have become,

Of the $4 Billion raised for the Lead by Example Campaign only 8% went to athletics. So maybe you don't know what you are talking about. Plenty of money goes towards academics at TAMU.

" The breakdown of the allocation was as follows: 30 percent of the donations carved out for colleges; 20 percent to faculty and research; 19 percent to students; 13 percent to campus construction; 10 percent toward unrestricted funds and 8 percent to athletics."

You do realize we've never been higher ranked as a university nationally overall and as an engineering school in particular. Take a seat

Academic Building will be built after the Indoor Facility. The current academic area is in Bright and will continue until the new building is finished. I'd put a FY 24 completion date on academic facility and a FY23 start and finish for Indoor Practice Facility.

Everyone knows college degrees are worthless to college athletes so why piss away money on a student athlete academic center? Just give'em some cash and a pat on the back.

Is the new Indoor Track facility slated for FY 22? It would make sense to have that up before tearing down the existing one, which is in the new Practice Facility footprint.

The new indoor track isn't the priority and there will be time where we don't have an indoor track. There can only be so much construction going on at one given time and the football Indoor is priority #1.

This is a terrible take. The last athletic event I went to included talks by 10 to 20 former athletes and every single one of them was extremely impressive. I was proud every single one of them was an Aggie.

It is easy to criticize what others did in a different time under different circumstances. We were the only school in the Big XII without an indoor football facility. Even t.u. had an indoor although it was an 80-yard long inflatable bubble right next to IH35 (which they still have with no plans in sight to replace it).Bill Byrne was very smart and innovative to build both indoor track and football facilities with limited funds. They were intended to be temporary and have lasted nearly 20 years. It is time for replacement, but not for criticism. Could you have done better?
