We have to be close to crossing a line on athletic facilities spending right? I was guessing the new bass pond would cover us but apparently Reed is now trash. Where do we stand with quidditch upgrades? I hear those guys are hogwarts level.
Reed was trash when it was built.
Reed replaced G Rollie so everything is relative if you are calling stuff trash. Apparently G Rollie replaced DeWare field house in 1954 and I'm convinced DeWare was haunted by corps farts from the 1920's so young people don't know how good they have it!
I LOVED DeWare. It was HOT as Hell in there, but the floors (basketball and handball) were awesome. Solid, and No Soft spots, repeatable bounce and your knees didn't feel like rubber after a good afternoon.
So look at the trends in all sporting facilities. Original Kyle & the only deck. Concessions was under the stands, so was the dressing rooms. No Frills, and the focus was on the field. Getting In & Out was a pain.
Kyle 2nd deck, Concessions were minimal, took forever to get out after the games. (Except when I was a Fish in 70) and NO One Went to the Games. Oh, and the ticket Prices. $7 when I was a Fish. Students got Half-Price.
Look at the Astrodome, the Summit, G. Rollie was really a multi-purpose, Kyle 3rd Deck, Reed, etc. The Mezzanines were FINE for the current day design basis. And funds for the Spectator Experience, nor demand for the Spectator Experience were Non-Existent.
But you get 1 of those full house Games at Reed and it's takes a while to hit the head. Longer at the concession stands. And don't be in a hurry at half-time.
NRG, huge concession areas, Jerry World too. But IMO they should have height limitation for those upper boxes. Signs should be posted that say
"IF you are over 6'2" You Can't Sit Here, as we didn't allow for leg room needed by taller folks!"Just like Coaching Contracts & Carts and Horses. Word is you gotta have facilities to recruit (NIL deals today too!) and you gotta win to get the big contract. The rest is all talk.
