That's what you get when you try to go big on the cheap.

The indoor facility was good enough to host championship meets and tended to get good reviews during the broadcast. I'm not sorry to see them go because, well, they're UGLY. But it's a shame to replace a significant facility and investment after only 12 years.

Will it? You don't think the NCAA will set a cap and everyone that matters will pay to that cap. Then we will be back to competing on facilities.

Maybe I missed it in here or maybe I missed the renos when they were done, but Reed was built on the cheap almost 25 years ago and is in desperate need of at least some updating. Yet, football continues to get richer. I'm not saying that's wrong per se but since I don't know, I'll ask the question:

Forget about Kyle; what has happened to Reed since the Bright complex, outdoor practice facilities, and other football facilities have gone up in the last decade and a half or so?

Basketball has produced a national champion (women's, 2011) and 3 or 4 men's Sweet Sixteens in recent memory. It isn't like its a sport that just passes time. This also benefits volleyball and (I assume) graduation, not to mention Muster.

The practice facilities built next to Reed are pretty impressive. The only way we get a whole new Arena is if one person or company puts up $25-30 Million.

Reed needs some love. Unfortunately most of the master plans are to the surrounding grounds rather than the structure. It would take an excessive amount of $ to do wholesale renovations in between seasons a la Kyle Field. Most proposals focus on non-structural changes like adding meeting rooms and practice courts, not changing the main structure.

The Park will be a new frontier something we have never had - or anyone else. Different than the facilities arms race rather than copying the trends, it's something asymmetrically different.

It wouldn't be more than $125-150 Million which between the huge single donation and the many smaller donations we could easily bond the rest.

Maybe so, but UH just spent 40 million for remodel. We're not doing anything significant to Reed for 20 million

Theres movement in the planning and design of Upgrades for Blue Bell.
