My media feed is blowing up with Arch Manning news lately, and there's no mention of him visiting us. I completely trust Jimbo, but that seems curious. Is there something I'm not aware of that would curtail his interest in Aggieland?

Why zero chance. We just finished 4 in the nation, play in SEC, developed a 2nd rd QB and our coach has has multiple 1st rd QBs in his career.
But he's taking visit to SMU and tu..? I was unaware they have such superior programs, facilities and coaching.

His uncle Peyton didn't come here because RC showed him a media guide with Rodney Thomas, Greg Hill and Leeland on the cover. Stated that he knew that passing wasn't a priority here. He was on the verge of committing until he saw that.

Doubt this is true. But if it were, he wasn't wrong. RC's program was a black hole for QB's.

Peyton Manning was never " on the verge of committing to A&M "
His top schools were Ole miss, Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame and Florida State.
And A&M was never listed in his top 5 at anytime.
Again we may have reached out to him but he was never coming here , and I doubt the media guide thing ever happened.

The story sounds believable to me. RC was old school in his recruiting method and took too long to adapt. Not blowing enough smoke up recruit's butt about how great they are/system gonna be tailored to them and offering them years in advance... It caught up with him once Mack Brown arrived.

Rumor is the Mannings are fans of Lane Kifffin, Garrett Riley(Zac Thomas at AppSt and Buechele's SR year and yes he is Lincoln's brother), and Steve Sarkisian for QB development and offenses run with keeping an eye on OL talent and coaching. Seems pretty unlikely to me that Garrett Riley will still be at SMU 3 years from now.
It also seems pretty unlikely Sark will be at sip more than 4 years from now too.
