Yep

I'd say that's about right

Saban
Dabo
Fisher

Then I'd Put Day, Kelly, Smart and Riley as the next 4 in whatever order

Day and Riley took over established top programs so they don't get the credit that jimbo does

Kelly is working with less talent at notre dame than the biggest programs but has done a great job there

Smart is a great recruiter but it s me like something us missing in his program

I think he'll eventually get an nc like Mack brown did but just because that program Is so loaded with talent

A great coach (saban) shows what you can do with a loaded roster: a mediocre one (smart, Mack) take similarly loaded rosters but can't seem to consistently win the big games like Nick does

Ranking coaches is too difficult and very subjective. I think there are tiers of coaches.

Tier 1a: Saban

Tier 1b: Swinney

Tier 2: Fisher, Brown, Orgeron, Day, Riley, Kelly

Tier 3: Smart and about 10 others

Never bought O, would short him now.

Just a few comments on your comments to support the notion that ranking coach's is subjective.

You think Orgeron and Kelly are in the same tier as Fisher and Brown? Kelly has done zilch anywhere outside of his "inexplicable" talent collection at Oregon.

Lincoln Riley's record is stupid good. I know he hasn't won it all but outside of that he's been amazingly good ... albeit in the B12.

Probably just an oversight but you left Sarkisian out of Tier 1.

To be clear, I was referring to Brian Kelly (not Chip).

Orgeron has a title, a conf championship, strong/consistent recruiting. So I put him up there.

No oversight at all Sarkisian has to earn his way up the list.

Admittedly though, I was a bit sorry about bumping your thread. Initial concerns were understandable in some way, and I was just kidding around when I bumped it. But some people went a bit too wild.

Does Jimbo know you've apologized? I'm sure his sleep was hard to come by these past few years.
