Myles Jones announces that he will return to Texas A&M in 2021

Myles Jones, who emerged as Texas A&M’s best cornerback in 2020, has opted to return for an additional year with the Aggies.

Jones decided to take advantage of the NCAA’s decision not to count the 2020 season against player eligibility because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound senior enjoyed easily the best year of his career in 2020. Jones posted 39 tackles, an interception and broke up five passes in eight games.

He missed the regular season-closing victory over Tennessee and the Orange Bowl victory over North Carolina because of an ankle injury.

Jones was a three-star prospect out of Magnolia West High School in 2017.

He played in all 13 games as a freshman and posted 35 tackles, broke up eight passes, intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble.

As a sophomore, he led the Aggies with nine passes broken up and had 18 tackles.

He moved into the starting lineup as a junior. He posted two interceptions and broke up six passes but was vulnerable to giving up big completions.

However, coach Jimbo Fisher raved throughout the 2020 offseason that Jones had made considerable improvement.

Jones demonstrated it in a stellar senior season. His highlight was an end-zone interception off Mississippi State quarterback K.J. Costello
