Three of North Carolina's top players opt out of Orange Bowl
Three of No. 13 North Carolina's most productive football players will not compete against No. 5 Texas A&M (8-1) in the Orange Bowl.
Receiver Dyami Brown, running back Michael Carter and linebacker Chazz Surratt on Monday announced they would opt out of the game to begin preparing for the NFL draft.
Those are significant losses for the Tar Heels (8-3).
Brown, a junior, led North Carolina with 55 catches for 1,099 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Carter, a senior, leads Carolina with 1,245 rushing yards and has scored 9 touchdowns. However, the Tar Heels still have junior running back Javonte Williams, who has rushed for 1,140 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Surratt, a senior, leads North Carolina with 91 tackles and is tied with linebacker Tomon Fox for the team lead with 6 sacks.
