I've never watched the other videos you've made but read the comments in each post. Good video and I'm guessing your honesty on the passing game won't go over so well with a lot of people here.

Keep up the good work

I have not watched but, 2nd half? I feel we stalled the entire game. You think we were clicking in the first half?

12 minute video? It only takes one second to say the word, "Mond."

It was actually more the receivers fault than Kellen Mond. Mond only had a few mistakes passing wise. It was game scheme and the revivers not getting open.

The second half was worse, but the first half I wouldn't say was clicking. We did have more completions and got drive rolling with our passing attack in the first. However, with penalties or 3rd down mistakes, we had to settle for field goals instead of touchdowns.

BLOCKING and of course 5-Star recruit, 4-year starter, senior MOND's horrific 11 or 34 performance against a team we were HEAVILY FAVORED AGAINST! This was not even a Top 25 team we were playing against.

Revivers- that is the most appropriate typo that has ever been typed.

It stalled after the fumble in the 2nd quarter. All on Fisher. He had 5 minutes while they reviewed the 3rd down play. He didn't do a good job of calling the play or explaining to Mond what to do to get out of it if LSU is ready for it, or calling timeout himself when he realized LSU was ready. I think a totally different rest of game if they score on that drive. Not crazy about Fisher not calling himself out, admitting he could of done better.

I was at the game. We scored 10 points in the 1st quarter and 3 points in the 2nd quarter, but 0 offensive points in the second half. We weren't exactly clicking in the 1st half, but we were moving the ball efficiently, especially in the 1st quarter. LSU's defense kept them in the game until Buddy Johnson returned an interception for a touchdown to extend our lead to 20-0 with 4:36 left in the 3rd quarter.

Pretty solid analysis. As anyone with knowledge of the game will say, the QB always gets too much praise and too much criticism. Mond definitely missed some throws but drops, no separation, and poor blocking were the story.

Breakdowns like this make me appreciate Jimbo as a play caller. If the offense executed like they had been recently it would have been a blowout.

Receivers being covered doesn't force Mond to miss throws. If you want to say the throws to Stingleys side were the receiver not getting separation, fine. But when our WR are diving, sliding or watching balls sail over their head - im gonna have to say that is on Mond.

Windows were tight no doubt. LSU has been susceptible to giving up big plays in the passing game all year. What's our biggest weakness on offense? This game continues to be a bad match-up for us. I expect the offense will look better against Auburn.

Sorry but that's a 100% incorrect take.

It's more on Mond than anything.

Yes, his receivers could have helped him out but the first drop by Spiller was a pass that was high and slightly behind him. The drop by Wydermyer early was probably the most egregious one. But the passes to Jones and Lane was short and behind them where they had to come back for it. Smith should have made the sliding catch but if Mond makes a good throw Smith might have scored because he had a full step on the DB. Then asking Spiller to come back to the ball that barely gets to him on the wheel route is a big ask of a RB.

The bottom line is that Mond consistently fails to put the ball into spots where his guys can make plays. He's consistently late with his throws and throws high & behind his receivers. Against lesser talent guys have more separation and can stop or come back more easily to make a catch but when a secondary that has probably 2 future 1st rounders (even if they're young and made mental errors this season) is not going to happen.

Look at the throw he missed trying to hit Jones near the goal line- Jones had a step and Mond has to drive the throw in front of Jones before the safety can come over and help. But Mond throws it high and behind Jones.

The next play shown is Smith along the sideline. Instead of having some touch to put it over the defender and drop it into the window between the defender and sideline so Smith can make a play, Mond is short which means the DB is in position to make the play.

Then Jones has inside leverage on the DB on a quick slant. But again, Mond puts the ball behind him so he's got to stop and that puts the DB in position to make the play.

Those aren't about being contested catches, those are bad throws allowing the DB to contest the catch when a good throw means a completion.

As for what defenses will try and do, putting man-press on our receivers has been the book on us for at least 2 years now. The difference is whether or not a defense has the horses to do it.

The receivers could have played better but if we're apportioning responsibility here the vast majority falls on Mond. L$U stacked 8 in the box most plays, played press-man, and dared Mond to beat them throwing the ball and he couldn't do it. He was the same Mond he's always been- slow to make decisions, frequently makes the wrong read, makes bonehead mistakes (see the 4th & short fumble), has no feel for when to tuck it & run, no feel for the check-down, and just cannot be consistently as accurate as he needs to be. He may complete mid-range passes but he virtually always forces his receivers to stop their feet instead of leading them or throwing them open. And he misses badly on deep balls, even when he's got all day to throw.

Q: Why so many missed blocks?

My armchair analysis:

It seemed to me we didn't have enough misdirection. The worst thing an offense can do to its linemen is broadcast where the play is going to the linebackers. Pulling linemen go left = play goes left and vise versa.

LSU linebackers were reading the pull direction, getting ahead of their blocker, and jamming the hole.

Perhaps if Mond would have kept the ball on a few of these plays and challenged the single weak-side contain linebacker one-on-one, it perhaps might have helped keep the LB's honest.

How much do you think the rain effected things? It was hard to tell how hard the rain was coming down on tv.

It's less complex than that. When you've got 5 guys to block 7 or 8 somebody is coming free.

Should have increased Mond's confidence with more short crossing routes versus the man defense.

Why?

So he can throw it behind the receiver and it gets batted into the air for an L$U INT? I think we avoided the middle of the field a lot because we weren't confident Mond could hit those passes without turning the ball over.

Was our offense good in the first half? Not sure we watched the same game.

Mond breaking containment and running out of pocket would have been the difference, but Jimbo has him on strict orders to do that sparingly. If he gets hurt, we're toast.

Nix sucks as passer, but shredded Lsu with scrambles which then opens up everything else. This isn't complicated.

Been hoping for a long time that Mond would use his legs. It's there a lot for him and it would neutralize the defense. But I think it's more just Mond's mentality than Jimbo telling him not to run.

Mond tries his hardest not to scramble in hopes of focusing on things that improve his draft stock
