Key notes from Liucci’s analysis on Moore
-
I don't know whether I agree or disagree that Dan Moore struggled last year. I'd have to go back and watch the entire season tape. I think offensive line evaluations are the toughest. I will say that he had his ups and downs last year. If Moore struggled that badly, they would be moving Kenyon Green to tackle this year.
-
He didn't have the year people expected where he took a step forward as a sophomore. He faced some of the best pass rushers in the NFL draft. As the year went on, you saw flashes from him. Yeah, he'd get beat some by those top-end guys, but I don't think he had a disastrous year individually.
-
Moore isn't quite your super quick-footed left tackle that people expect Reuben Fatheree to be one day. He is a veteran who has played a ton. He's big and strong with a lot of experience.
-
He had better moments and better games than most want to recognize, but as a group, they had some tough outings against some of the nation's best. They'll only be facing three elite defenses this year as opposed to five last year.
-
The competition level goes down. His experience and, hopefully, sense of urgency are going to rise in his second year under Josh Henson. That's important for a coach to put him in the best situation to succeed.
-
I'm convinced Dan Moore will have a better season this year than he did last season.
-
As a guy who has played so much football, he will know more than the guys he's going up against. That will benefit him. He will also be physically stronger and bigger than the 18-year-old true freshmen.
-
Dan Moore played with some pretty painful injuries last year that are now no longer a problem. That absolutely impacted his season last year.
-
Moore and Carson Green, along with those two linebackers, should be much better this year than they have been. Those four guys along with Micheal Clemons and Myles Jones could define how far this team can go. I don't think Moore and Green or Hines and Johnson are going anywhere. Those are going to be four-year starters. If Moore and Green can be senior bookends and if Buddy and Anthony can be All-SEC linebackers, the Aggies could have a special year.
-
If Moore and Green make a big step, how much better can Kellen Mond get? How much better are Isaiah Spiller and Ainias Smith? How much more production do we see from the receivers? I expect Dan Moore to have a much better season and could turn into a guy who finds his way into this year's NFL Draft.
