Watching the 1986 Cotton bowl, Aggie vs. Auburn and I still don't like Brent Musberger! As irritating as it was watching live.

I get that Bo Jackson won the Heisman that year and it's all they talked about and pretty much missed our last TD showing Bo on the bench, but we still won! At the half now.

Full, true 12th Man walkon return team. Wrecking Crew.

Interesting to see how bad the film quality is but fun to see some of the old names, Domingo Bryant, Rod Bernstein, Keith Woodside, Larry Kelm, Shea Walker, Kevin Murray, Johnny Holland!

Has it really over 30 years!

Good times.

Watching it too. What a great day for me and my friends as seniors. I really loved those aggie fb teams when I was an undergrad. We "stole" Jackie from Pitt for a whole 1/4 million dollars and he built a championship team in 4 years. 12th man kickoff team was awesome. And the names - Bryant, Kelm, Holland, Howard, Corrington on the D side, and Murray, Bernstine, Vick, Toney, Woodside, Nelson on the O side - it was way more than Awesome!

Just reminded of the news headline the day after the game as
Bo No Go in the Co Bo!

The 12man went against the starting return team one practice that year. A couple of scholarship guys got hurt. That was the last time that happened. They went back to scout team returns after that.

That was a great game and great year. Bo was an incredible athlete but met a hard defense.

This was the second year of the 12th man. If I remember right no team returned past the 30 that year with an average of a 15 yard return.

Murry would have been drafted if it had not been for the ankle break. I am sure you remember the photo on the front page of the Batt. He had a strong arm.

I was with these guys every day at practice. Good guys.

Oh I was at the game or Kevin broke his ankle. That was my freshman year at A&M. Gruesome.

I'm not sure if I knew you but I knew a few guys on the team but that was a long time ago.

Those mid 80s in football and Kyle Field were some of THE best times. Now there's been other really good times since then and my 35+ years of season tickets but those for years as a student were very special. I'm happy I was there!

The 1985 tu game is one of my favorite memories. As was the 1986 Baylor game. Good times.

I remember this game as a boy. One of the first aggie games I remember. I was watching it with my father who is an ex aggie football player on our old school tv that was a piece of furniture /tv for this of you that remember them. Great memories and the beginning of my love affair with aggie football.

BTW, the giggle emoticon is not for Kevin's broken ankle, it was for the other good memories.

Rules were different back then. The 80s were so fun. Not saying the current game is not physical but in those
days it was really a collision sport. This is my helmet from those days. If people hit with this part of the helmet these days they would be throw out of the game.

Rod, one of the nicest guys on the team.

We freak out about the early 90s talent but that was an impressive squad. There was lots of NFL talent.

Rod Bernstine, Johnie Holland, Keith Woodside, Roger Vick, Domingo Bryant, John Roper, etc

You are correct, that was a very talented group. Chet Brooks is left out of that group. He went to SF and started as a safety in the Super Bowl. His career was cut short because of injury.

Take one out of that group and I can say these guys were really good people and just fun to be around.

I was there. Great game. I remember thinking it was hard to believe that was the 50th Cotton Bowl at the time. Now we're coming up on the 85th. I'm old.

I hadn't thought of that. Now I am feeling old.

Wrecking crew was something else.

Bo with four tries inside the four, and came up empty handed.

Bo really only hurt us on the one screen pass. But to listen to the commentators it was Bo vs. the Aggies.

Fantastic game. Still ticks me off they missed our last touchdown.

Definitely in my Top 10 of A&M games that I've attended.

I know! they had the camera focused on Bo rather than showing our last touchdown and then re-watching yesterday they also had missed one of our earlier two point conversions talking about though as well. Back then they didn't quite have the camera coverage like they do today.

I do remember even at the time being irritated as hell about it. That started my decades long hatred of Brent Musburger.

I was at that game! Loudest I've ever heard the 12th man ever outside of Kyle.
