they'll beat us by 20 and go on to win a NY6 bowl
I'll take this bet. We have em at Kyle, we'll be better, they wont be as good. I'll def take the 20 you're so confident in.

You know, this thread, got me thinking.

Tom Brady, I think next NFL season now we are going to really find out what that guy is made of.

43 years old, can he win a Super Bowl? Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure, he won 6 super bowls in his twenties and thirties and even one at 41, but did that really prove anything about what he's made of? He had youth more or less on his side, which was no doubt a big help.

But can he win one in his mid-forties? NOW if he can do that, then we'll really know what that guy is made of. Yeah, that will really show us something about how good Brady truly is, and proven once and for that all those other Super Bowl titles weren't just because of youth and fluke.

A coach going from 3-21 in SEC play at OM to winning a title is unprecedented. Obviously, LSU provided structural advantages and he was lucky to inherit Aranda. Still, that doesnt explain it all.

Either he evolved or caught lightning in a bottle. I still believe more of the latter.
The last three LSU head football coaches each won a national title while there: Saban, Miles, and now Orgeron. Three consecutive head coaches winning a natty says something about LSU's infrastructure and considerable geographic recruiting advantages. And that is why there will no doubt be a drop off but LSU is always going to be loaded with great athletes and have a lot of natural advantages compared to most other schools.
That's actually a pretty crazy stat, and something I hadn't thought of. Can any other school say this...that they won NC's with 3 straight head coaches? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Miami did it with Howard Schnellenberger, Jimmy Johnson, and then Dennis Erickson

And that's a very long time ago now - nearly 30 years and a whole different set up for how the winners are determined. LSU has done all that since 2003.

even more amazing numbers:

there are SIX active coaches who have won NC:

THREE won their first NC at LSU.
ONE was OC at LSU when LSU won one.
ONE was QB Coach at LSU before he won his.
ONE just got beat as defending NC as LSU won NC.

This is instructive. I'd add that LSU is made of plenty whether coached by Coach O or otherwise. Starting with the Cotton Bowl in 2011, LSU is 9-1 vs us. Geez, no wonder I hate em.

It's always refreshing to see analyst get staff jobs. Let's you really know people believe in your system.

I can guarantee you not one Ag knows who those guys are. I'm an avid tiger fan and had absolutely no clue they existed.

LSU will have a rebuilding year next year, lost too much talent not to. I don't think they fall too far, maybe 9-3 at worst, way too much talent on that roster still. But as a program they're back. And that's a problem for us. I think they will be right back in the playoffs by 2021.

Ed O has done all the right things, they found their guy for the long haul. Joe Brady May be gone, but his offense is there to stay. Bama didn't fall off when Kiffin left, he left the offense. Neither did Clemson when Chad Morris left, offense is there to stay. Same will happen for LSU. Brady came, installed his offense and LSU will reload and continue to run it. Thank God Burrow is gone.

But Jimbo needs to get his ball rolling, it's 10 wins or his seat heats up this year. And coming off a 7-5 year with the players we have coming back, 10 wins is a long shot. I just don't trust Mond, and ultimately, it's up to him and what progress he has made. Sorry. But I'll believe it when I see it. There isn't enough hype for me to buy in.

Time for Jimbo to do something.

Am LSU fan but have been predicting Jimbo would build a monster, he has all the needed elements.

Schedule is ripe for a big year.

Only big improvement needed is for Mond to play every quarter like his best quarters,.

Of course there is always the recruiting thing: Ags are #6 now, but 6 of top 8 are SEC teams.

Uh, Jimbo won 8 games this year and replaces Georgia and Clemson with Vandy and Colorado. 10 wins is anything but a long shot.

If LSU follows the U's precedent then they'll be a dumpster fire in what, 5, 7 years?
