Out of their 22 signees and commits for 2020 - LSU has 5 kids from Louisiana.
Not exactly getting a roster full of LA kids.

Have some patience for ****'s sake. A&M has not had the perennial top 5 talent stream every year for the past 15 years LSU has had. Jimbo has this ship headed in the right direction quickly.Ragnar Danneskjoldd said:
Christ, I wish one of our first choices could achieve even a whiff of Ed o's success.
Mike Evans on line 2...... i think he was the real reason both of those teams did wellTamu_mgm said:Ed O just won a natty because of Joe Brady and Joe Burrow. Simple as that.Ragnar Danneskjoldd said:
He was LSU's 3rd choice and won a natty.
It is similar to how Sumlin won 11 games; it was because of Kliff and Johnny, albeit lsu had much more talent on both sides of the ball this year.
Let's see what coach meathead does now that his 1,2, and now 3rd best aspects of the lsu program are gone.

7 Underclassmen to the draft
They will obviously still be insanely talented, especially with the recruiting bump from a Natty, but will Orgeron be able to achieve a sustained dynasty like Bama and Clemson?
Hard to get to the top. Even harder to stay there.
What do y'all think?
Even in a down year when LSU lost to Troy and Mississippi State they still went 9-4. I don't see Orgeron and LSU going 3-9 and winless in the SEC in the next few years....Martin Cash said:SEE: Gene Chizikran_rivers11 said:

I know Coach O today is not the same Coach O as when he was at Ole Miss. But since the way his hiring happened at LSU included a promised package deal wherein Kiffin would come with him as OC, it seems to me he well understands his own limitations.Martin Cash said:SEE: Gene Chizikran_rivers11 said:

and who recruited Burrow? Who hired Brady? That has to earn him some sort of credit.Tamu_mgm said:Ed O just won a natty because of Joe Brady and Joe Burrow. Simple as that.Ragnar Danneskjoldd said:

Still the 2nd easiest job in the country. A fool like can stumble into 10-2 on a down year with their advantages. Only Ohio State is easier.
They have to recruit mostly out of state for skill people especially.
Their QB is from Georgia. RB from Texas.
WR's are from California/Texas/Arkansas.
They have to recruit nationally. (Haskins from Maryland, J.T. Barrett from Texas,Chase Young from Maryland, Okudah from Texas)
LSU has the easiest recruiting as they have enough in-state talent to fill their roster at every position.
They still cherry pick a little bit from other states.
Their recruiting is lights out when they are winning of course.
The idea that lsu is a perennial power because they have Louisiana talent is a myth that has become cancerous here. lsu had a good run in the 50's and 60's, but 70's, 80's and 90's they were largely irrelevant in terms of SEC and nationally. They were brought back to life when Saban was hired - pretty much everything from 2000 on is a direct result of Saban rebuilding and re-branding their program.bv86ag said:
Orgeron has the same advantage every coach has ever had at LSU...all the top kids in Louisiana ALL want to play for LSU.
Been that way forever. But he will have to rebuild somewhat after this season.
Brady may be gone...but you know Ensminger learned a lot from him and now has Brady's playbook to work with.
LSU won't win a natty next year or the year after...ala Clemson or Bama.
But Orgeron can recruit with the best and has his state locked up.
Can you imagine if Jimbo had the State of Texas locked up?
Can you imagine if every kid in Texas wanted to play for A&M?

That looks a lot like Bama. I checked their class a couple of years back and they only had 5/25 from the state of Alabama.GumboMaverick said:

All you A&M bright boys need to quit worrying about Coach O, at least he went to the big show and won. You need to turn your attention to the home problem. Fisher will never win a Natoional Championship at A&M!!! BOOK IT!!!!!!ran_rivers11 said:

We didn't this year. Orgeron did.

That's exactly my point with Coach O though. I am nowhere near sold he can SUSTAIN the success. Heck, even Gene Chizik got fortunate with Cam Newton and Gus as his playcaller. LSU will continue to be a regular 9 to 10 win program, but it's a big wait and see for me as to whether he can restock his great OC & DC, and get even close QB production.
Why? This may very well be LSUs best team for a long, long time. It was historically good. We never have to beat that team. We just have to beat other teams. I don't think any of Clemson's 2 national championship teams were as good as LSU, but they didn't have to beat them to win it twice.greg.w.h said:

You mean like win 10, 9, 12, 10, and 10 including 2 Orange bowls without him?Billy Bean said:

This. I think that is one of the major changes that O has gone through from his days at Ole Miss - he is aware of his limitations and also aware (and learned from Carroll) to find good coaches and let them coach with only interference as necessary.BusterAg said:
When Coach O hired Jones, he was a no-name assistant coach at the Saints, and barely out of his diapers.
He hired Aranda from Wisconsin.
That's a pretty good track record for identifying top coaching talent.
Yes, 2020 may be a rebuilding year. They are not likely to win a championship with their current crew. But, I would bet that Coach O has already identified a handful of coaches to join him at LSU when he loses his coordinators. That's what you have to do when you are a good CEO style coach.
I would be very surprised if they don't continue to be good.
