The curse of a National Championship is it is all down hill for a coach. So many vultures waiting to be proven right.

This is interesting. It's not enough to win one. The day after people want to know if you were REALLY good enough to win or if x or y was the reason you got there.

Coach O won a national title. He did what he needed to do. He is a CFP Chamionship coach.

He was "made of" enough to keep Aranda, hire Brady and let him totally re-vamp the offense; he let each manage their side of the ball without micromanaging like he did at Ole Miss, convince Burreaux (intentionally used his last game jersey name) to come to LSU, etc. he recruited lights out- which has done wherever he has been.

People on here make fun of him, say he is dumb, make fun of his deep voiced Cajun accent, etc. At the end of the day, he is orders of magnitude better than every single coach we have hired since the Jackie/RC eras until we hired a Jimbo.

I remember people laughing when LSU hired Coach O. But he has done at LSU what we have been dreaming of for years. He totally embraced the culture, made great hires, recruited great talent, and let everyone do their jobs. This team was his, and he is made of championship material. Can he take LSU on a 4 or 5 year run at/near the top like Dabo has at Clemson? There's a lot of competition out there so who knows.

I do know that while we have been being patient since we fired RC (necessary move), we haven't had a whiff of the upper echelon except when they beat us. I hope our patience with Jimbo will payoff with at least 1 championship run.

Same thing said about LSU every other year. Pundits and opposing fans expect them to drop off, and they always come back strong. I expect they'll have another top 10 team by the time they roll into Kyle.

LSU is a 2-3 loss team every year except for once every ten years or so when a transcendent player comes along. Kind of like how A&M is a 4-5 loss team every year until a year when Manziel happened.

Except LSU has so many good players that when they get a special player they win a natty, A&M wins 10-11 games.

Hopefully Jimbo builds up the program so that when we get a special player down the road we can win a natty. But not right now

It's always tough to predict a team with a new QB and this many new starters. People thought we were gonna suck in 2018, and we ended up being pretty good and winning a NY6 bowl. I think we'll have a similar season in 2020. The Texas game could set the tone of the season.

We definitely lose a lot from this team, but I think we're in better shape on paper for next season than most non-LSU fans realize. We'll be set at running back, wide receiver, D-line, and the back end of the secondary. Our season will depend on how Myles Brennan does at QB, how our O-line gels, and how our new group of linebackers play.

As for the coaches, I expect we'll promote Jorge Munoz from within to be Brady's replacement. He's a bright offensive mind. I expected Aranda to leave after next season for a West Coast head coaching job, but I'm not worried about our ability to find a suitable replacement. A lot of really good coaches will want that job, and it might end up helping our recruiting, since Aranda really didn't like doing much of that.

I think we'll go something like 10-3 next season with a decent bowl game. But 12-1 isn't impossible in the best-case scenario; neither is 8-5 in the worst case scenario where the team isn't ready yet. We're probably title contenders in 2021 again.

If LSU goes 12-1 in 2020, I will never doubt Ed O again. I think there is a slim slim chance that happens though.

Just counting the regular season
the floor for LSU most seasons is 9-3 with
10-2 being very possible. Coach 0 exceeded the floor by 2-3 games hard to guess if he keeps that up. If he dies it will be at expense of Saban,Malzahn,Fischer, & Mullen

They will obviously still be insanely talented, especially with the recruiting bump from a Natty, but will Orgeron be able to achieve a sustained dynasty like Bama and Clemson?

Hard to get to the top. Even harder to stay there.

What do y'all think?
All you A&M bright boys need to quit worrying about Coach O, at least he went to the big show and won. You need to turn your attention to the home problem. Fisher will never win a Natoional Championship at A&M!!! BOOK IT!!!!!!

If you don't think a coach like Fisher can win a title at A&M then you might as well stop being a fan.

I think Orgeron is 58 years old, has now made tens of millions of dollars over his career, has just won a national championship, and is going to continue banking a considerable amount of money for at least a few more years.
Orgeron has shown what he is made of at this point. Really doesn't have much else to prove. He can retire tomorrow and 2019 LSU will go down as one of the greatest college football seasons of all time.

A coach going from 3-21 in SEC play at OM to winning a title is unprecedented. Obviously, LSU provided structural advantages and he was lucky to inherit Aranda. Still, that doesnt explain it all.

Either he evolved or caught lightning in a bottle. I still believe more of the latter.

Orgeron has the same advantage every coach has ever had at LSU...all the top kids in Louisiana ALL want to play for LSU.
Been that way forever. But he will have to rebuild somewhat after this season.
Brady may be gone...but you know Ensminger learned a lot from him and now has Brady's playbook to work with.
LSU won't win a natty next year or the year after...ala Clemson or Bama.
But Orgeron can recruit with the best and has his state locked up.
Can you imagine if Jimbo had the State of Texas locked up?
Can you imagine if every kid in Texas wanted to play for A&M?

Texas is a lot bigger than Louisiana. Jimbo only needs 1/7 of the state locked down to have the same "advantage."

Ensminger may have learned a lot and have the playbook, but I doubt he can make the same adjustments and adapt the passing game to what other teams throw at him the way Brady could have. When it comes to Brady's passing game, Ensminger is going to be more like a script kiddie than a serious threat.

Ensminger also won't have burrow. The passing game tends to work well when you have a guy completing 76%, no matter who runs it.
You don't know the Steve Ensminger that I know. Pray that he retires in the off-season.

The last three LSU head football coaches each won a national title while there: Saban, Miles, and now Orgeron. Three consecutive head coaches winning a natty says something about LSU's infrastructure and considerable geographic recruiting advantages. And that is why there will no doubt be a drop off but LSU is always going to be loaded with great athletes and have a lot of natural advantages compared to most other schools.

He was LSU's 3rd choice and won a natty.
Ed O just won a natty because of Joe Brady and Joe Burrow. Simple as that.

It is similar to how Sumlin won 11 games; it was because of Kliff and Johnny, albeit lsu had much more talent on both sides of the ball this year.

Let's see what coach meathead does now that his 1,2, and now 3rd best aspects of the lsu program are gone.
Yea ,,,,,, but Im having a hard time finding where that trophy for the natty that Sumlin won is being displayed !

His point was that sumlin overachieved because he had a once in a generation QB (maybe the best ever at the college level) and top flight OC. Once they were gone, he reverted to the mediocre loser he truly was. With Brady and burrow gone, along with half the rest of the team, orgeron isn't competing for another natty anytime soon. He'll go back to the same 8-10 win team lsu has been for years.

Coach Orgeron has always been an excellent coach.
He was the Main Assistant coach that recruited a number of the players of USC's 2002-2005 dynasty.

The University of Mississippi is not exactly the easiest place to win, and Coach O was one of the first coaches to really improve their talent level.

LSU has the huge advantage of being the only major football program in a state rich with talent.
