Jimbo wanted out of Florida State. Nothing points to him wanting out of A&M. The Woodward relationship was just our foot in the door. He's not going to leave his guaranteed, 75 million dollar, all the support in the world, sleeping giant, everything to gain job just because his buddy left.
yes, provided he gets along with the new AD.

But all it takes is one player discipline issue to sour the AD-head coach relationship

and regarding Coach O...

he has a lower ceiling that Jimbo. LSU fans know that

if you don't think that this exact possible scenario wasn't discussed between Woodward and Jimbo back when Jimbo signed you're nuts.

and ask yourself why was it ok with woodward that Jimbo's contract doesn't have a buyout on his end.

We just need an AD that supports the coaches and the programs. RC was a good coach that did not have the AD support. Jimbo left FSU because he did not have the support of the AD and was hamstrung with decisions on coaching hires, restricted budgets, and non competitive facilities. Woodward understood this. We just need another with the same vision.

We never thought he would leave FSU, but his agent got you to give him $75,000,000.

His agent, Sexton, could do it again.

I think they actually had the money. They just didn't get the permission to hire him.

This might be the dumbest thing I've ever seen on this forum. To suggest that Jimbo colluded with Woodward to leave FSU only to jump ship again in the name of following his boss is down right broke back mountain type stuff.

Well if you go check TiggerTurds, a lot of their fans don't seem to think they need him. (Yes I went to another fan site for like the 3rd time ever). They've got Woodward now and all their problems are solved. Just being corndog is enough to kick Jimbo's ass year in and year out......

I love this mindset. Stick with it, swamp trash.

Yeah. LSU has budget issues with the state legislature fairly often. Even though the athletic department is not funded by the state, F. King Alexander, LSU's President loves to curry favor with the current governor by threatening to shutter the football program unless the Tiger faithful to pressure their state legislators to get a budget passed. It's all BS but Alleva was a loyal soldier standing next to Alexander to make those pitches.

Texas politics are messy. Louisiana politics are a dumpster fire.

The no buyout clause was by design by Jimbo and Woodward the whole time with always the intention of bolting for corndog tummy sticks together. We got played from the beginning and went for broke

Relax...!!! Save the meltdown for when Jimbo says no and they take Elko instead.

Then we get to face the same Elko D that gave Jimbo fits with Wake Forrest talent but now with elite lsu talent.

It's gunna be fine

Y'all way over value Jimbo's relationship with Woodward. Here's the reality. Orgeron is only getting fired if he's unsuccessful at LSU and Jimbo is only going to leave A&M if he's unsuccessful at A&M or if the A&M admin causes him headaches. If Jimbo is successful at A&M there's no reason for the A&M admin to cause headaches for him.

That means the only way Jimbo is likely to leave A&M is if he's unsuccessful here and if he's unsuccessful here how likely are you to even want to pay him $7.5 million per year? How likely is LSU to prioritize him? A&M was the place Jimbo landed because of a variety of factors. Money, the school's commitment and investment for success in football and his relationship with Woodward. If those other factors other than Woodward weren't present he wouldn't have left FSU, at least not for our job.

I'd be shocked if Jimbo is both successful here and leaves for LSU. It would defy logic.

I somewhat agree, I don't think he goes but here are couple things:

I didn't think SW would leave.
How unsuccessful was Woodward?
If he wasn't unsuccessful why did the brass cause him grief?

If SW leaving wasn't all about money what keeps Jimbo from making a similar decision?

When it comes to Ed O how often does a program jet an AD over night and the intention of retaining a coach hired by the fired AD for the long term? My guess is not many!

use your brain instead of being a moronic homer.

it would have come up in initial conversations. jimbo would have asked what are the chances you leave. Woodward undoubtedly said he'd only leave for LSU.

It's not collusion. ( way to jump to conclusions you moronic twit.) It's simply a prospective employee looking out for his own future.

LSU discussion had to be had. what they were. who knows. there are several possibilities.

It may be their intention or desire to get rid of Ed O, because they think he's not a good coach, but if he succeeds he'll prove them wrong. Alleva is not out right now because of Ed O.

Scott Woodward's parents are from Baton Rouge, I think I read his grandparents are too, he was born in Baton Rouge, grew up there, went to college at LSU, started his lobbying business in Baton Rouge and worked with the local government for 15 years after he graduated, spent 5 more years working in their athletic department, left to work in Washington's athletic department for 12 years, and then ours for 3 years. He is 52 years old and has spent 37 years of that life living in Baton Rouge and pumping bayou blood.

I'm sure Jimbo is good friends with Woodward, but if he loves Woodward as much as Woodward loves LSU and Baton Rouge, then someone needs to have a conversation with Woodward's wife.

The reality of this business is that, at some point, other teams are going to make a run at your people. The point is not to focus on who's making the run or what they have to offer. The point is to continually be improving your situation. It accomplishes 2 purposes:

1) current talent will appreciate your efforts to make them successful. Never stop asking "how can we help?"
2) if current talent leaves, others will be clamoring to get that spot because of the support.

There are some things you can't overcome. "Going home." NFL. Promotions.

Don't fear those things. Just keep working on your situation.

Jimbo doesn't have any emotional ties to LSU. This was Woodwards alma mater. To try and equate Woodward leaving us for LSU to Jimbo doing the same is a reach.

I mean, never say never, but the odds of Jimbo Fisher going to LSU is extremely low. We will keep him so long as we don't do anything stupid to piss him off.

But it's stupid to think that Fisher would say "Okay, I'll come to A&M, but if you do leave to LSU, I'll follow you in just a couple years right in the middle of when I'm building something here." No one thinks like that. He came here for the long haul. It's also stupid to equate the buyout to anything more than typical leverage. Fisher had it. We didn't.

Saban doesn't have one, either. You don't get to set up a buyout when you don't have leverage. Why would any good lawyer tie Fisher into a buyout knowing the school desperately wants him and is their top overall choice regardless?

Scott will do everything he can to make that situation as appealing as possible. Jimbo will always be in high demand whether he's successful or not.

Don't worry about if someone comes after Jimbo. They will. Whether it be Clemson, West Virginia, USC, or somebody else. They will and you can't stop it.

We have to hire an AD that Jimbo likes and can effectively manage the BS to free Jimbo to coach.

Guess Woody is Jimbo's only friend...

Chill out folks. Jumbo left FSU for us for more reasons than just our AD at the time. That helped the situation at that time but wasn't the only factor. Glad he helped us out by making the hire. Just don't put a bonehead in the job and we're good

Seems like he is going to LSU cause they need to make coaching hires and he is good at that...
More accurately is is very good at fixing institutional problems present at LSU for going on 2 decades with an intimate understanding of the Tiger mentality and Tiger way. Let him go fix his alma mater, if you've ever been in some of the school's facilities you'd understand they need him there more than us. Jimbo isn't going anywhere anytime soon at least until this ship is righted and positioned to compete in the West.
