Sounds like a continuing series of stalking/harassment incidents, well after the letter.

And I don't think it has been proven yet that the arrestee is the sender of the letter.

I've completed my analysis. Both the letter writer and signatory know cursive AND have used some of the same letters. THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE SAME PERSON.

The address listed on the Sumlin envelope (Potomac) is Houston Country Club...

The address listed on the Sumlin envelope (Potomac) is Houston Country Club...
yes and it makes sense now. Arrested for a stalking offense, then confessed to Sumlin letter. Not sure if he'll get a charge for Sumlin letter. But he probably can't do near Fine Arts or church because of the stalking arrest, and can't go to country club because of sumlin letter.

My handwriting analysis is that the "n" in Sumlin looks very similar to "n" in Robin

I'm fairly certain there is a sip with the same name as the person arrested, and she's a socialite in Houston. I have no idea if the person arrested is a sip or not, but there is evidence that the online references to the UT grad are to a woman, not this guy.

Robin Alen is a guy. There is one reference to a girl by the same name from the Chron, but that could be a typo. I think it's all the same guy.
