A big win in front of a smaller crowd in JAX but very good tv numbers.

Jacksonville and Tampa are just bad destinations considering how far most of us would have to travel (look at the crowd size for the Outback Bowl). Orlando would likely see a much better crowd since there is a larger draw for families with other activities in the area.

I think Clearwater Beach is awesome. I'd go to Tampa anytime we play there. (I went to Jax too, btw)

Flights from DFW to JAX were in the $600 range.

So we drove the 16 hrs.

Jacksonville was very meh We stayed in the San Marcos area. We had planned to take the river taxi, from the south bank, but they weren't picking up many passengers.

The water at the Jacksonville beach was probably in the upper 50s. We went for an hour or so, but as far as beaches go, wasn't that exciting. We ended up going to St. Augustine, and had we known about that place, we'd have likely stayed there, and driven up for the game. It was a really nice experience.

Our hotel was about 60/40 NCState/Ags. Very accommodating, but on New Years Day, that place cleared out. Many of the NC State fans were in for the game and left.

The reason having these bowls on a campus doesn't make sense is, the sponsorship (including the City) is to highlight the city.

As an example of how they missed the mark, they gave goodie bags with shampoo and BC power (for hangover/headache). Nothing makes me want to go back to Jacksonville, like getting free shampoo. They also gave out these 10cent horns, which... apparently... some people don't like.

Not sure how ticket prices compared to years past. The stadium was great... seats were great. We were practically on the field.

There were Ags watching inside (question asked above). The food and refreshment were very nice.

We went because finding something to do with kids on NYE is often difficult, and this made for an easy event. We'd certainly do it again, albeit a bit different.

A NYE low 2nd tier bowl in a not great tourist destination.

The 18-20k that showed is a miracle.

Bad opponent. Boring city

It was a meaningless bowl played 12-15 hours from where most of us live. I'm surprised there were that many.
Most of us have better uses for the $300+ per person it would've cost to go out there.

What a bunch of BS excuses. The 2013 Peach Bowl was just as meaningless as the Gator, was also on NYE, and the opponent was Duke yet 67k tickets were sold for that one and actual attendance by Ags was much better. I don't want to hear any crap about it being a NY6 bowl either b/c at the time that designation did not exist. We travels like crap to the 6th oldest bowl against a 9-3 ACC squad. It was a terrible showing and you can damn well bet it will lead to the Gator and Outback doing their best to avoid bringing us back to Florida which means more Liberty and Texas in our future b/c we've bought less than the school promised now to the Gator, Music City, and Belk.
