No reason to hate that. He was. His only problem was his height.

What happened a few months ago when some sites were reporting he had committed?

What was that whole deal about?
I don't know what the deal was but have heard that he has a handler.
Football seems to be going the way of basketball with regards to someone other than parents running interference.

Yupp. The private leagues are the instigator. Remember Jimbo's 1st week on the recruiting trail last year?

Watching his highlights is something else. Reminds me of watching Adrian Peterson's HS tape. A man among boys. Just 10x better than everyone else on the field.

Whatever happens, we need him, or he can't go to another SEC west team.... He is that good.

In the SEC West he will be better then Kyler because of his size. He will be able to take those hits from big sec LB and D linemen.

I agree. Kyler is a great QB. But i really wonder how his body would have held up playing in the SEC West. Remember Johnny played hurt most of his last season at A&M. And Johnny was as tough as nails. While Kyler is a great athlete and QB. I do not consider him a tough player.

His competition looks like middle school kids
when evaluating a player you do not watch his competition. You watch his skills, his size and speed, his football knowledge, his leadership, his in-game demeanor etc and you project what he can be a few years from now. Great ones will make his competition look bad at the high school level.
Yeah, but for the great unwashed like us this type of thing is telling. The top shelf D1 players just look like they're playing at the wrong level. Bo Jackson looked like he was playing at the wrong level in college.

...Until he met the Wreckin' Crew.

Bo hated lifting. He may have lifted some because it was required but he was not a weight room warrior by any stretch. He was just naturally strong and muscular.

You are right about Herschel though. He did insane amounts of pushups and sit-ups for the majority of his workouts.

Calisthenics are actually surprisingly effective at developing overall body power and strength, but that's a different conversation... all together.

I do agree if we get Hornsby, Evans and Demas we win a natty.

We'd potentially still have Cupp, Leal and all of the DB talent on the roster as well.

He had a hell of a day against us - except for that one goal line stand.

FB Marshall beat Huntsville in a thriller of a game. If you'd like to see their team and young Mr. Hornsby in action then you would have an opportunity in the semifinal round.

Edit to add: 5A Division 2

Was not impressed at all tonight. I would take a hard pass. Mechanics are great and measurables are good but bad accuracy.

I don't know about y'all but I liked him obviously he needs work but he has an entire year to work on his accuracy. He has some great potential and I would hate to see that potential playing somewhere other then the good guys

It's hard to be accurate or look like a good QB when you're under constant pressure. He never stood a chance.

Yeah, the hardest part of recruiting is separating a kid's performance from those of his teammates. Guess you haven't mastered that yet.

Murray went through progressions and was incredibly smart with the ball at the high school level. Incredible QB from mechanics and awareness standpoint. The videos I've seen of Hornsby look like he stares down receivers and if that one guy isn't open he runs. Against SEC defenses that will get passes intercepted constantly.

Hornsby looks really really raw. He has physical talent but he's needs a lot of coaching.

I was at the game vs. Aledo. He is very raw and very thin. Hornsby has incredible arm talent and really fast feet, but he will need to redshirt. The Marshall team as a whole was significantly outcoached by the aledo machine. Never got Achane out in space, poorly designed routes. receivers running stops and the QB throwing go's. Many plays where multiple receivers ended up in the exact same spot. Hornsby was not able to work through his progressions, but there were very little progressions to work through. He will need a redshirt, but I still want that kind of athlete on Kyle Field.

That's why we have Jimbo Fisher. Get Hornsby on campus for a redshirt year along with the strength and conditioning, he should be able to compete with Foster, Blumerick and Calzada. Don't know if he will win but he should be able to compete better.

Are we still doing this?? His body would have held up just fine in the SEC just like JFF. Kyler was the consensus best player in all of College Football this year. He would have done great in the SEC had he stayed.

You keep saying that kyler wouldve survived an SEC schedule, but it doesnt make it true. Kyler himself realizes the danger his smaller body faces from football and thats why he will likely go baseball in his future- put it against the best defenses week in and out and his likelihood of injury goes thru the roof. I know u are a kyler fanboy- and he is a fantastic player- but he would not have won the heisman in the SEC this year. I do think he is good enough to win one big SEC game- we will see if he can do it against Bama this weekend.

Coached in high school and college. ALL-American in college. National championship as a player in college. State Championship in high school as a coach. Named as a Top 50 player of all time at his University. And played briefly in the NFL. Great resume right?wish mine was that impressive!

Coach, you should never feel the need to explain yourself.

You: Kyler recognizes that he is too small and weak for the NFL
Reality: Kyler has a guaranteed $5M offer from baseball. Much "Bigger" baseball players have made the same decision.

If I'm a fanboy then you are that guy who makes an uninformed opinion about someone then tries out theories to make your false narrative sound plausible.

If only we had the best QB coach in the nation....oh wait.

In all seriousness, of literally all coaches in CFB, there's no one better than a very raw prospect to learn under than Jimbo.
