Corso is fine. He's not the host, or tasked with carrying the show. He's one of 7 or 8 people getting airtime, when you include Bear, Maria, and Tom Rinaldi. The dude loves college football and that still comes across the screen.
He's a legacy retention. They keep him around because he's earned the right to retire on his own terms. That said, I believe the scuttle was that he was due to retire when his current contract ends in 2 or 3 years.MSCAg said:
Yeah. My guess is he is like a lot of old guys out there. Still thinks he can do it/too stubborn to retire, but I'm guess the ESPN brass is too scared to force him out.

Corso is Gameday. Deal with it.

I cringe when he talks but I love how herbstreet helps him along and I love that the kids still love him at every stop. It's actually a pretty good lesson about loyalty and compassion and refreshing to see. One of the best things i've seen ESPN do come to think of it.

They are obviously grooming Pollack to take his place, so OP obviously loves Pollack and cant wait to see more of that no-personality ****** on the show. If more Corso, means less Pollack, then Lee can stay there until he dies on stage.

I don't think he's incoherent because he's old. Me thinks he hits the booze a little too hard. He slurs most of the time like he's drunk.
Leach would be entertaining no doubt, but he's a bit too salty/grumpy to fit in on a show like Gameday. I'd love to see Spurrier. I think he'd fit in perfectly. The Mad Hatter wouldn't be bad eitherJock 07 said:
Mike Leach or Steve Spurrier
Love Herbstreits reaction right when he hears it.dixichkn said:
Lee Corso, God bless him.......you love him for the same reason you love sawing varsity's horns off and yelling "hullabaloo caneck caneck"........it's corny, and sometimes it doesn't make sense, but it's tradition. It's a slowly disappearing link to the glory days that'll never be recovered once it's gone. I love that the students still love Corso wherever he goes. He's a Saturday morning icon.
Plus he had me for good the minute he dropped that f bomb on air at UH. So un-PC. It was beautiful.
