Pause the video at 6 seconds and 8 seconds.

At 6 seconds, ball is clearly on the ground. That by itself wouldn't negate the score, but his hands are on top and the ball is below and between the ground and his body. At 8 seconds the ball isn't in his hands at all, which means he did not control the ball through the catch and the ground aided him. Should have been reviewed and negated.

But that would require a couple of things - one for there not to be bias in favor of Alabama and two for the review officials to not be Stevie Wonder and have a brain with a higher function than a mushroom. Even 1 of those being in play is about the same odds as winning Powerball, all 3 in play is statistically impossible.

Can't trap the ball with the ground to aide the catch. To get no review was so frustrating on a play like that stretched out like Superman.

Yeah they never would have beaten us without that bias...

Show me where I implied that. I'll wait.

Ball clearly comes out of his hands as he hits the ground. Those of you who can't see it aren't watching / need glasses / secretly love Bama / part of SEC officiating crew / all of the above

I was yelling at the TV in the bar to review the play but no one else agreed. It was a huge momentum builder for Bama that shouldn't have stood.

I don't see why we didn't challenge the first down Tua got where he stepped on the first down marker but the ball was behind him 2 feet in his hands

My conspiracy theory is the replay official was concentrating on the final remains of his pre game meal and got caught by surprise and out of position. Hard to hit the buzzer with greasy chicken wings in one hand and a big gulp size Dr. Pepper in the other.

Not a conspiracy theorist, but sure looks like a missed call.

THEY COULD HAVE RUN THE EXACT SAME PLAY AFTER IT GOT OVERTURNED AND SCORED ANYWAY

WELL MAKE THEM EARN IT. NOT GIVEN TO THEM.

WHY ARE WE SHOUTING?

If he were wearing maroon, the play would have at a minimum been a booth review with a likely reverse of about 90% certainty. I'm no conspiracy theorist and I thought it was a catch on live tv until I saw it posted here. They didn't run the slow mo on tv to my knowledge.

But if you think we get that call if the roles are reversed, I think you are naive.

Problem is our DB's just aren't fast enough to cover their top receivers and Tua has a strong enough and accurate enough arm to take advantage of it.

Not too sure how fast our defensive backs are, but I don't think there's a safety in the business who can stand flat-footed face-on to a fly-receiver until he's within 5 yards and expect to spin off and stay with him.

If John Bible was the replay official, you know why it wasn't reviewed/overturned.

Don't know about all the conspiracy theories, but that's not a catch.

It was a scoring play that should have received a review. It looked like a trap to me real-time and I commented on it watching the game, but the broadcast and everyone on the field went forward as if there was no question. I think that some bias was at play: it's Bama, at home, with awesome receivers, the defensive back was beaten, etc. they just assumed it was surely a great catch and went right to the extra point.

Privilege of being a winner is you get the calls.

It seems like questionable calls more often than not go against us.

Did not notice live but ball certainly hits ground. Touchdowns and non-TDs are big calls no matter how you slice it. Especially in first quarter.

It was a catch. Receiver still had his hands under the ball.

When you watch in slow motion you can clearly see the receiver make an "O" with his arms and there is no ball in his hands. The ball bounces off the grass and gets trapped in his arm before he regains possession of the ball on the roll.

The issue is not the fact that he lost possession, as if the ball hit his hands then gets trapped in his arm, it would be a catch since it never would have hit the ground. In this case, the ball clearly hits the ground and bounces up into his armpit area before he regains possession. The play should have been reviewed and over turned, but at a minimum it should have been reviewed.

Isn't the replay control room in Birmingham? There's the answer to all your replay questions and frustrations.

The replay officials were too busy high 5-ing to notice he dropped it...

Add in the un reviewed first down call where the ball was clearly out 2 yards short of where the ref marked it to give bama a free first down, on what turned into a scoring drive.

Add in the bogus targeting that took a defensive starter out of the game.

Add in holding on pretty much every bama pass play.

Add in the ridiculous late hit penalty on the interception return when the ball carrier was still running hard like he thought he was in bounds.

Add in several times our receivers got taken down and it was not called PI...

Not saying we would have won, but it would have been a much closer game without the SEC refs protecting their front runner.

The five second rule in Bama if the ball does not touch the ground for five seconds its a catch

If you watch the texags highlight video, you see the ball is loose at 33 sec. His right hand is on his elbow and not the ball.

He has control before he hits the ground and no obvious loss of control after he hits the ground. Play stands.

Nah. Op is right. He clearly didn't have control when the ball hit the ground. He had it against his face mask and was bringing it down, but he's obviously losing it as he traps it.

Now this sounds like a conspiracy
