Mustain was a diva. Malzahn has always been a puke. But Mustain's mother, Beck Campbell, was a b**** from hell who caused many of the problems, barging into Frank Broyles' office making demands. The "Springdale Mafia" as they were called went after Houston Nutt with a vengeance. According to them Nutt was Satan incarnate. It was a very nasty time in Arkansas football history.schmellba99 said:
It is a good documentary, I vaguely remember the Mitch Mustain phenomenon but didn't pay much attention to it back when it was going on.
I know it's not unique to him and likely applies to almost every coach in the game, but Malzahn will always be a slimy SOB to me after watching that show. Left Mustain out to dry. Mustain didn't do much to help his cause either with some of his poor choices.
Mustain was a fragile snowflake who melted in arkansas and transferred to usc.Agsuffering@bulaw said:

Mitch Mustain wasn't in Metallica. He was kicked out of Anthrax and founded Slayer.Emilio Fantastico said:
He was great until he got kicked out of Metallica.
Malzahn was Mustain's HS coach. He held Mitch and some other great players from his 7 on 7 team hostage in order to get a job with Nutt at Arkansas. Nutt was in the same position as Sumlin with Kyler Murray. Mustain was an Arkansas boy, Parade All-American in his backyard. He had to take him on whatever grounds necessary. So Malzahn was given a job as co-OC. Rode his players to a first time college gig.Agsuffering@bulaw said:
Why did Malzahn offer Mustain?
Agree it was all kinds of screwed up but Malzahn was the architect of most of it. He had his pass happy HUNH offense that he had been running (to great success) in high school and 7 on 7 games for several years. With Mustain and Williams, he saw his chance to be elevated into the college ranks. So he used it and used them in the process.schmellba99 said:
I remember either reading something about this or hearing something about it. Mustain wasn't clean and free by any stretch, but in his defense the kid was used like a $2 hooker so several folks could advance their careers. Never seemed to get a good fair shot, and then went off and sold Xanax on craigslist and got busted when it did look like he was going to get a chance.
The fact that Malzahn wouldn't even comment or be on camera for the documentary tells a lot about his character.
Just a messed up story all around.
Fair point.MaxPower said:
In Malzahns defense, he turned out to be a better coach than Nutt......

Disclaimer: The Hubs grew up with the Nutt brothers.
LOL. Guess it does. Daddy Nutt (Houston, Sr.) was a basketball coach at the School for the Deaf. Great man. Houston, Jr. was oldest of four sons and they all played BB. They played all comers in basketball which is how The Hubs knew them. Played them often.TV Casualty said:aggiehawg said:

The Nutt brothers sounds like it could be a porn site.
He was an insufferable deek, so they kicked him out of the band. Then they dug up Kirk Hammet and never looked back.Agsuffering@bulaw said:
