This class is going to be top 10. It would absolutely have to fall apart in a way that has never happened to Jimbo Fisher and Tim Brewster before not to. I'm talking miss out on nearly everyone we lead for and have a few decommits, all the while not being able to replace the guys we lead for with other highly ranked guys we lead for.

The only thing we'll need to reconvene is whether it's in the top 2-3, top 4-6, or top 7-9 range.

Seems like Jimbo is closing a Top 10 class with current projections. If he can somehow win 9 games, I think he gets a Top 5 finish with the added hype.

I don't think anyone expects a top 2 finish at the end. Anything top 5 should have us doing cartwheels

"It is seeming that when he gets kids on campus for an OV, he is pressuring them for a commit, and not even allowing them to go home, discuss it with their parents, and give an answer within 24 hours. It is the 18 yr old recruit, surrounded by **** coaches, caught up in all the attention, and being pressured to make a life-changing decision on the spot."

So does Randolph know this first hand or did the voices in his head tell him that?

Things that make you go hmmmmmmm.

At this point it's just sheer numbers. They have 15 commits on board so that's what's driving their ranking. That said, with a bowl ban at the end of this season and a three year overall probation, does it not seem odd they're drawing as many kids as they are? Something still smells funky over in hotty toddy land....

Yeah, but Randy Duke has his theories about this over on the surlyshag & I gotta say, it's the first time I've ever seen him say he may be wrong......

Jimbo's strategy of applying high pressure to obtain commits and then insist on no other visits is either going to absolutely change the landscape of college football recruiting, or and up as one colossal failure.
It is seeming that when he gets kids on campus for an OV, he is pressuring them for a commit, and not even allowing them to go home, discuss it with their parents, and give an answer within 24 hours. It is the 18 yr old recruit, surrounded by **** coaches, caught up in all the attention, and being pressured to make a life-changing decision on the spot.

This fall, when the other top recruits are taking the last of their OVs and watching the top games of the season in person, the **** recruits get to hear second-hand what a great experience school-x was. I think the temptation to join in with their peers and have the full recruiting experience will be a greater draw for top recruits than will the knowledge they committed to Jimbo back in April and that "recruiting is like marriage."

I may be wrong. Jimbo might just haul in such an amazing class, and the thought of playing for a coach who won a national championship a few years ago might be such a HUGE national draw, that Fisher completely changes the dynamics of college football recruiting such that recruiting season is essentially over before the prospects finish their junior year of high school.

My guess is that the **** recruits will be taking visits to other schools and that he will either have to enforce his "no visits" policy or give it up. And if he gives it up, other coaches will use that against him during recruiting, claiming Jimbo is so worried about his being able to live up to the contract he signed that he will put the interests of the athlete secondary to his own best interests.

Herman and Fisher are going after some of the same recruits with two very different recruiting philosophies. They can't both be right. My gut tells me pressuring an 18-year old kid to make an emotional spur-of-the-moment decision and then to honor it while their other friends are living it up, because "recruiting is like marriage" is a losing strategy. But we are about to see. It should be fascinating to watch this all play out.

Because Jimbo changed his whole recruiting strategy when he come to A&M? Love the arm chair coaches.

Our expectations are too conditioned by the past.

But in 8 years at FSU, Jimbo finished five times in the Top 5, twice Top 10, and only once (2013) at #11.

While there are other class ratings they'll be similar.

He has serious inroads in the top talent areas of Texas, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama (the last 3 were roughly the same distance from Tallahassee as DFW/Houston/SA from BCS), and the ability to be competitive anywhere in the country. For example, we may not pull in the kids from NY and WA, but he's getting them to actually visit.

This is so wrong it's ridiculous. What an absurd take. What dips*** wrote this? Jimbo isn't pressuring commitments. In fact, the majority of our commits haven't even been while on campus. I can't even begin to describe how wrong this idiot is.

Alright everyone settle down. Have none of you watched ESPN for more than a cycle?.....it's not about A&M, here's the play:
A&M catches media with dick in hand hire
Media says wtf
Espn says let's move them waaaay up (flip our strategy here) AND let's put his former school right behind them
Now begins the narrative between pre/post Jimbo at FSU
And crafted out of thin air is the Jimbo saga upon which they will drag him through the mud with any slightest perceived failure

As long as he leaves room to sign the kids who aren't completely grown by age 16. These are boys, not girls.

No bud, it works both ways- I'm also not super bummed when a recruiting target goes another way in the springtime as a verbal commit means almost nothing in this brave new world.
Too many examples to point out. Jimbo has awesome momentum but these kids want the newest shiniest thing. If we drop 5-6 games this season, I'm not so sure the loyalty will still be there. Hope I'm wrong (about the losses) as i truly believe if he kicks the doors down in year one a top 5 class is going to happen.

So how many decommitments do you think we'll have if we lose 6 games this year, bud?

Prob a lot, bud. I'm just pointing out that, while it's great that the first part of this recruiting cycle has been exceptional, it's not how you start but how finish. You think ole miss is going to end up top 5? All these kids continue taking visits despite committing. It sucks but it's the way of the world now.

Setting a hook is one thing, landing the fish another.
