Can anybody explain why Texas A&M doesn't have a homecoming?

My best friend asked me this question and I'm pretty sure I offended her in some way when I answered. If you happen to know if there is a reason other than "we aren't a high school" I'd like to learn about it. I'm thinking its because we were once an all military school with no women attending.

Homecoming at most universities are mostly a gimmick to get graduated to return to campus to make money. We don't need a gimmick, for some reason. Us former students year after year shill out our hard earn money to watch our team struggle against homecoming tier teams without a gimmick.

was thinking about this the other day. yrs ago i had a good trivia Q: the only 3 schools that did not have homecoming. i think Boston College and Notre Dame were the other two. i'd have to verify if thats still so.

Guessing that died off in the early ..maybe mid 90's.

Has nothing to do with not being a high school. Technically, it is true that Texas A&M is not a high school.

I remember one game a couple of years ago where one of the bulls was complaining about E2 bringing dates to the games. He was saying it was unfair to the other cadets that weren't able to sit in the corps block because of it.

Well Muster is not a typical homecoming where everyone comes back to campus. Most former students have local musters in their own area.

Back in the SWC days I thought SMU game was sort of a special game. Wasn't that traditionally the Fish Drill Team's day to shine?

1991, 1992, 1993, 1994 - no home losses - all seasons 6-0 at home!

I was at A&M for 6 football seasons (1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1990).

We were 31-4-1 at home during those years. It was pretty sweet.

I remember the "spurs" on the corps boots. Flattened bottle caps on wire that jingled when they walked.

My dates occasionally bought mums for me for games but I was mostly in long term relationships and would rather forgo the mums for a post-game pitcher of beer (or three.)

Every home game and away game at Gaylor is homecoming.
That's why.

Also, bring back the mums and dates. We are in the SEC now. These fans can appreciate our traditions instead of being jealous of them like the SWC/Little 12 loser schools.

I think you miss playing a terrible league.

From 91-94, the Aggies hosted 3 top 25 teams, none from league opponents. Only one time did a league opponent finish in the top 25, Texas in 1994 at #25.

Video games? Not so much. I know exactly what Muster is as I participate in it every year. Muster is not even comparable to "homecoming" and to put it in the same category in my opinion is very disrespectful.
