How long do you want to ignore this user?
Anyone ever used it?

Worth a shot especially against the likes of LSU, Arky,, and even UCLA who run the ball more or who have a more pro style offense? Might help to negate our lack of depth at LB and utilize our athleticism/speed.

Put the NG at a 0 technique, with both DT's at a 3 technique, and both DE's at a 5 technique (6 if TE to their side)

Here is who I would line up with:

NG- Mack / Moton
DT- Keke / Peevy
DT- Henderson / Rogers
DE- Johnson / Robinson
DE- Madabuke / Clemons
LB- Dodson / Olaka / Hines
S/LB "Rover"- Howard / Okeke / Dunning / Buddy Johnson / Cunningham (rotating depending on Offense package- heavy run vs heavy pass)
SS- Watts
FS- Wilson
CB- Willis
CB- Oliver

I prefer the 1-5-5 defense. The 9-1-1 defense ain't bad either.

I was thinking more along the lines of 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 defense. Single file.

If you have the LB talent I like a 2-4-5 in an obvious passing down. Get your 2 best rush linemen. And then can bring added LB blitz pressure from anywhere and still have speed on the field to cover receivers.

I **** you not. My freshman year of hs, we ran what was called The 10. Everyone was lined up on the LOS. Corners were jamming and you had a FS over the top.

We used the 1-5-5 against Andre Ware and Houston. 1 DL, 5 Lbs, 5 DBs.

They were the best 7 man football team in west texas, I'm sure.

I run the 3-3 with my 6-7 flag football team. In 2 years we have only had one pass completed against us. It is harder to stop the run, but that is to be expected when you wiff on tackles. My point being, and I have said this for years, if you can't tackle it doesn't matter what defense you run.

Only 1 line backer just doesn't sound like a good idea as a default scheme.

I think it would worse against teams who run the ball more, especially teams like LSU. Linebackers catch the runners as they come through the holes. You'd be forcing a safety or corner to act as a linebacker.

2-8. Coaches were fired for stealing food from the cafeteria and we had a new coach the next year

Gives the LBs the opportunity to rest up for when it really matters

A 524 is basically a 3-4 "pressure" package, with your OLBs in the dirt. A 515 is the same. There's no rule saying you can't sub a "dump truck" package of linemen in place of linebackers, but you lose team speed in case containment gets lost.

Of course such a passage is vulnerable to passing if you sub linemen for linebackers; you lose speed and the ability to properly cover the middle. All this being true, high schools routinely run 515 and 605 packages all the time; at that age and at low classifications, you basically get no time to pass and the run is usually underblocked. Somerville saw 605 all the time when I was in school and according to our QB it was hell trying to get passes off.

Slocum ran a 1-5-5 against Houston's run and shoot in 1989

The 5-2 was pretty common through about the 70's when most teams ran the ball every play except 3rd and long, and the wishbone, beer, and wing t were popular

It was BASICALLY NT, 5's and 9's up front

2 LBs mostly inside

DE's were smaller 2 point stance guys that had outside

Corners forced the sweep inside

Safeties are in the 2 and 3 zone
