And tied for 2nd in the SEC west is our best output.

Here is the truth:
If we had the right coach. An electric recruiter, a guy that demands excellence, just the right guy, we would have a dominating team and perhaps one of the best defenses ever.
Just think, 3 of the top 6 players in the draft all are from the DFW metroplex. Right in our backyard. Can you imagine having Garrett, Solomon Thomas and the LSU safety all on the same defense!!! If these were Alabama kids and in Saban's backyard then that is what he would have done. We just don't have the right guy. Most of us have known that for 2 years...we are just wasting time with Sumlin.
He is getting paid top level money and producing mediocre results. He has squandered any momentum we had after the vaunted 2012 Heisman season.ironmanag said:

Be very careful what you wish for.
With Sumlin we average 8.5 wins a season, had a Heisman winner, a first overall draft pick, a win over every SEC team except LSU, and all within the first five years in the toughest conference in football.
And several trogs want to blow it all up because Sumlin utterly exceeded thier idiotic predictions of 4-8, 5-7, 6-6.. every single year, but not enough.
Those trogs are so ignorant it's almost cute.

Perhaps our "good" recruiting is just one great player ever few years and a whole bunch of misses....

The Heisman winner was not because of him... that was Sherman's recruit. I believe that any coach would have taken Manziel to the winner's circle.. look at our recent QBs... JFF was not because of Sumlin.
Texas A&M said:Sumlin is the 7th (or somewhere around there) highest paid college football coach. He has not produced that level yet. Knowing what we know now, it would have been a better use of salary to keep Sherman.ironmanag said:

This is such BS. He wouldn't win one under the coach who recruited him. Sherman would have started Showers over Johnny. No matter your feelings on Sumlin, he deserves all the credit for taking the chance to start Johnny.

Seriously? What has Sumlin done that other similar coaches couldn't do?ironmanag said:

No supporting cast? We've had a first round draft pick every year for the last 6 years... we have plenty of talent on the team.AGnCS said:
Yeah, we kinda wasted Myles' talent with no supporting cast.
Opposing teams were able to double, triple team, and hold MG all the time because we really didn't have any defensive depth to apply pressure anywhere else. (And I'm not using that to excuse the coaching.)Quote:

We had a supporting cast. They were just all underachievers.
