When is this going to stop?

Everyone is doing it in both of the majors (collegiate football and basketball).

It's so obvious why many of the top recruits hold out on their commitment for so long (waiting on the top bidder $$$). I can 100% tell you there are uncommitted blue-chip recruits who are of frequent discussion on this board who will go to top dollar amount. That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

I am surprised there have been so few leaks with how often it is occurring. Anyways, this disgusts me and I truly wish the NCAA would work to put a stop to it, but it's obvious they don't want to. Rant over.

Just because these guys don't sign with a certain university- does not cnfirm "bagmen". Unless something, somewhere is uncovered, I'm calling BS

I agree the NCAA should put a stop to it.

Also, the FBI should put a stop to all drug deals.

The ATF should put a stop to all illegal arms trades.

Law enforcement should also put a stop to murders.

Evidence is a thing and it's hard to produce.

Another thing -- and every fan base is guilty of this -- bagmen are only a problem when the recruit commits elsewhere.

my only problem with bagmen is that ours aren't delivering when the collective resources of the program are second to none

Bagmen are a fact of the game... and the sip boosters are all on the same page once again, like they were under Mack Brown. Meanwhile, Sumlin is embattled on both sides, with just a few high-ranking Houston boosters on his side, and an ever-growing contingent on the other side trying to oust him. Even the fan websites are no longer in his corner, with 247Sports openly questioning every one of his moves. Liucci will of course not say anything, because he doesn't want to hurt the program.

Our bagmen aren't supporting the coach at all, and the boosters are divided. You will see how the sips miraculously finish this class and the next, and how Sumlin will lose virtually every recruiting battle next year, until he is finally ousted after the year is over

Two years too late, yet again.

You think things are fun, wait until he loses to KSU next week. That dull roar is only going to get louder, and there is nothing Sumlin can do about it. Except actually win for once. But he won't, because he just isn't a very good coach.

Here is where the sips have us beat. Even last year, when they wanted to fire Strong they were paying top dollar for recruits, while our guys were not helping out due to their petulance over Sumlin.

That class is going to help Herman in his first season. Meanwhile, when Sumlin is finally fired, his replacement will have nothing and start out in a big hole. All because our guys do not want see the big picture. The sips always seem to though.

Everybody cheats but some people do it much better than others. We half-ass it and let egos get involved instead of working for the program. It is not about Sumlin, it is about A&M football.

Does it make sense that basically the same people that would fund a massive stadium renovation would not then step up to fill it with 5 and 4 star players?

When egos get involved, very little makes sense. A group of boosters wanted Sumlin gone after last year's **** show. Due to other boosters, and mostly his ridiculous contract, they were rebuffed. They then pouted on the sidelines when the sips decided to pay through the nose for a class they knew would be for Herman in the end.

We pay too but we look like amateurs compared to the big boys because of stuff like this. Big time college football and basketball are dirty as hell. Only the naive would believe otherwise.

And you say take the evidence to the NCAA? Even if we had taped confessions what would it do? The NCAA has let UNC make up degrees, and Ole Miss has coaches pay players directly (this actually coming from the players). Nothing has happened to them.

Why would he want to burry our program? We do it as well. Our problem is as stated above. The horns are playing for the same team regardless of who the coach is and we are playing for the coach regardless of how it affects the program. The sooner people stop believing we are the only ones that don't "play the game" to a certain extent the better off everyone will be. I don't think we go to extremes to make it obvious but we do play the game a little.

Will be interesting to see how Herman finishes. tu currently at #59 and A&M at #7. Charlie sold a lot of Moms, it wasn't all bagmen. For all of his shortcomings, Charlie recruited well. And we won't lose to KSU. Ags by 14 points.

Deal with it because the NCAA will not taint the brand that is college football. Stacks of strapped Benjamins look very impressive to kids who have little or nothing.

this.

Bagmen are good for business.

Steer the studs to the traditional schools and keep nostalgia alive, comrades.

I think a bowl win will only prolong the bleeding. A&M has everything going for it externally. How many times have we all lamented on how A&M should be a powerhouse with all the funds and resources we burn to win at football?

It's the dirty behind-the-scenes stuff that A&M either hasn't figured out or the bagmen money is no longer behind Sumlin.

Honestly, I think the reason "bagmen" seem to be "winning" recruiting for competitors is because Sumlin actually isn't letting Aggie bagmen pay recruits. He and Sherman strike me as guys who actively discourage such behaviour. Case in point: Sumlin actually dismissed a player after a domestic violence charge and actually kicked Darian Claiborne off the team after all their troubles. Stoops would've kept them. Saban would've "disciplined" them for a game. I rest my case.

I have a family friend who was a linebacker at USC. He occasionally talks about how he took a pay cut when he graduated and went to work as a chemical engineer.

They would give players tickets for "family members" and then boosters would pay mega bucks to buy them from players at an annual event.

If current recruiting success continues, our current bagmen seem to have been taking advice from the Aggie bagmen of old.

The only reason it is "illegal" and not allowed is certain peoples selfish desire to keep the game "pure" and "amateur." Schollie caps help alleviate the concern of "all the rich programs will get all the talent." Allowing people to get money for their work (holy **** what a concept) should be allowed.

B.S. That wouldn't stop it. There will ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS be out of control boosters throwing in extra, off the books perks and incentives. You could legalize playing the players in weed, and there will be boosters supplying them with heroin and coke. You legalize everything you can think of to legalize, and a half second later some jock-sniffing closet homo old man will think of a new illegal off the books perk. The problem isn't with rules, it's with the boosters who are emotionally tied into this like children. They're not just obsessed with wins, they're obsessed with special access and inside information. College football insider status is a new money status symbol like a gaudy watch or car.

We've got plenty of new money showboats who want a little inside info and access to brag about and name drop to their buddies, but I suspect it's been a while since we had a lot of cohesion and direction at the BMA level.
