Not 3rd and Chavis. It's usually 2nd and Chavis or 1st and Chavis
Want to like him, but his unit is beyond terrible

The Chavis hire was a major bust if we're being honest. This D with this talent is underperforming big time.

Dude, Sumlin is the problem, but Chavis aint shat.
He has never led a defense that didn't have Fulmer recruiting or the pick of Louisiana talent until now.
He is nothing special and he is shat as a recruiter. Money well spent
Agreed with this. His unit looks like a D3 group. Given the talent he has, the only reason we give up so many yards is scheme and coaching. This is Charlie Strong bad. Awful.

Chavis's only problem is he has to play with Sumlin recruits and with Sumlin being the main coach on the sideline. The guy is clueless and the opposite of hands-on. John Chavis should be head coach if he's not the DC. Sumlin is the embarrassment. Chavis is starting scrubs at cornerback, and has no depth thanks to goofy Sumlin.

We score 39 on LSU and lose by 15. I have to say that's not on Sumlin. Chavis' defense has steadily regressed. Anothet 600+ yard game by our opponent. Fire Chavis. If Sumlin won't di it, fire them both.
It was bad but Chavis had nothing to work with tonight. Defensive backs who couldn't cover me on crutches. Linebackers who aren't Power 5 ready and... well okay the line is good.

First off, anyone supporting him wholeheartedly at this point is clueless. Secondly, Sumlin is going nowhere due to $ but Chavis could be bought out. I say hire the WVU DC. Doubt it makes a difference but can't trot out the same crew next year.

This. We had 4 really good players on defense this year, the rest were below average.
Chavis is very overrated, but Sumlin and the entire staff need to go. Time for a change in Aggieland.

Exactly. Sumlin has had do overs on both coordinators already. At this point you fire him or leave the group in tact and hope, despite all indications, that they can turn it around next year.
LIke I said before, Sumlin is running a white collar welfare/retirement program for his friends.
As long as you keep giving out these ridiculous multi-year guaranteed contracts with no performance incentives, this is what you can expect. The fact that they were even considering giving him an extension this year should tell eveyone just how beyond broken and out of touch the system and those running it have become.
