How long do you want to ignore this user?
All the different sources and people saying they have universally heard "Sumlin is safe" is a VERY good thing.

Why?

Because it means Woodward, the AD, is doing his job. He is making sure that everyone who talks is on the same page.

The AD must get everyone in every corner of the university to give 100% support for Sumlin publicly and when they talk as sources....

....UNTIL the exact moment he is fired.

I'm glad our AD isn't making a mess of this like they are in Austin with the Charlie Strong situation. It was a mess for us last year (and it hurt us in recruiting) and I am glad there seems to be a significant shift with this leadership (which makes it easier to trust them whatever they decide).

Now, with all that said, remember "Sumlin is safe" means nothing. It MUST and SHOULD be all we hear until the moment the news breaks that he is gone....which could be in 5 years or 5 days.

It also seems to me that the recent outpouring of "Sumlin is here in 2017 no matter what" is purposeful damage control especially in the event we beat LSU. Worst case scenario is to have Sumlin back in lame duck status, with the impression that he is a dead man walking. AD needs to have full support of him in order to salvage things even if they know he is gone either this year or next.

If he coaches next year, you will finally see a losing record. He will finish last in the SEC West... won't beat a single SEC team on the schedule.

Because he's Sumlin

I completely agree.

I think Sumlin has a lot of flaws and we can do better. However, if we're not going to fire him after 2017 (no way he was getting fired after this year anyway) I'd much rather see the BMAs and AD united together and behind Sumlin going into the offseasons. Otherwise, you'll have Sharp going off the rails again and recruits jumping ship.

I have no doubt he did.

Hey tmr

We are not going to win an SEC game next year? Care to put money on it or are you just talk?

Bump.

Paul Finebaum saying A&M is likely to get into the Herman discussion...

1) Woodward has a very good relaitonship with Herman's agent.
2) Finebaum was told if Sumlin lost out in SEC play he had a slim chance of returning.
3) I think the fact that things are QUIET is a very GOOD thing.

Correct. The was I've read Young and Woodward, and consistent with Young's M.O.

1. Radio Silence, wafts of support

2. Sudden announcement of resignation on a Friday. Personal decision with a chance to head back to...Purdue (just don't know when)

3. Introduction of New Head Coach on Monday.

There will be NO SIGNS of discontent until they have reached a deal with the new coach (Meyer, Jimbo, maybe James Franklin)
