Agreed. I wish the rule would change a little though and allow through the back when clearly going for the ball (or trying to knock it down). Arm bars, contact while not playing the ball, etc. is and should be illegal, but going to catch or defend a pass while both players are in the air, contact should mostly be ignored.
Disagree. The defender was not a defenseless player and was not hit with the crown of the helmet, thus it can't be targeting. I also thought that the contact to the head or neck area was largely incidental. The reason the defender didn't see the block coming (and it wasn't a blind-side block) is that the Aggie who intercepted the pass had his hand in the defender's face.Quote:
