Got MBA at McCombs. Hate them with a passion.

EDIT: There were 6 of us in the program of about 150 and several wore orange and went to football games. I couldn't do it.

The actual ****? I also went to mccombs, there were about 30 Ags out of a class of 250, if any of them had pulled that **** I'm pretty sure they would've gotten their ass whipped by the rest of us.

For grad school went to Michigan state when I worked in Detroit. I'm not a fanatic, I belong to the alumni association and get the magazine. Haven't been back there in years.

I bleed maroon and only root for A&M because it's mine and my dad's alma mater and I love it.

I also proudly display my UT degree because it's a great school that I respect and I'm proud of my diploma and the hard work that went into it. Oh and I don't call it tu because that's super gay.

Both of my roommates from A&M went to tu postgrad. The one who went to law school there hangs his tu diploma upside down at the firm where he is a partner. 100% Aggie!

The one who got his MBA there went full sip (including marrying a sip) and doesn't even wear his Aggie Ring anymore. He is dead to me.

I can't believe how many AGGIES here received their Masters at UT. I mean, doesn't that do against everything you believe in? And I'm not trolling or being sarcastic. It just seems as much as you hate UT (or TU), that you'd never, ever claim anything from that school much less spend gobs of money there. And then talk trash about it night and day!

Did this; same as above -- law diploma maroon around it. Bleed maroon. Had to purchase s shirt at bookstore once and closest I could get was a blue shirt that simply said Texas (no university or longhorn word anywhere on it). Going to that school re emphasized why we don't like them

My oldest son is an Aggie grad and that's where he was educated. He went to trade school at Texas to get his M.D.

This hits pretty close to home. In May of 1970 if you told me you looked in your crystal ball and I was going to have 4 children, and the 2 girls would graduate from Texas A&M and the two boys would not, I would have called you a liar to your face. But, that's the way things have worked out. In the past month, I have found out my OU son is going into a Masters program at A&M. My first question was, does that qualify you for a ring. Yes it does, class
of '18. Then last night my A&M class of '05 daughter calls me and tells me she's entering an executive MBA program at t.u. She said in her acceptance package was a sip flag. She asked me what she should do with it. I suggested she hang onto it in case she runs out of toilet paper. She thought that was a good idea.

I did this, but I was in the Corps. There's not even an issue to discuss -- you get a degree from t.u., and an education from Texas A&M.

All about money. Was hard decision but smart one. Have two really strong networks instead of one.

So for you that are ashamed of your texas "rag" and won't even hang it on your wall: why did you go there then?

Doubt anyone is "ashamed" that they got a masters from a very good school.

I have an emotional relationship and a professional relationship with the schools. Its not in my, nor in anyone's, really, best interest to let the two merge too much.

I have no shame because I'll have fantastic degrees from that school that will provide me the best opportunity and access to my respective field and really the only comparable programs would require me going to the Northeast and blowing a lot more money than I needed to.

I would have loved to enter the same programs at A&M, but that just didn't seem like the best decision for me. Emotionally, I wish A&M was the right place but professionally I could not do that.

Now, I will admit that I don't go around talking crap about that school "night and day." I've come to know quite well that both campuses are just a bunch of teenagers and 20 somethings who come from the same cities and who both just want to get drunk on the weekends and our **** all smells the same.

I do enjoy razzing them, I love the rivalry, and I want their athletic teams to suffer just the same as y'all do. But I don't actually believe some of the smack I say and I shake my head when I see folks on here that seem to actually, honestly believe some of the vitriol they're spewing.

I'd disagree. I think got a pretty darn good education at UT-Austin. And some handy degrees.

But that's really a student-to-student thing. That's all about you and your willingness to "get educated."

Wow. This is even a debate? If you get your undergrad at A&M and then claim another school as your alma mater then it should be law that we revoke your diploma and melt down your Aggie ring. If this is happening then we are officially becoming tu east

Tons of us went to UT medical schools. We're Aggies, not sips.

The easy answer to this is always "it's your undergrad institution."

But a lot of it probably depends on how much you connect to the different universities. A good friend of mine did his undergrad at Vandy and doctorate at A&M. But during grad school, he really got into being an Aggie, and I think he considers himself more of an Aggie than a Dore because both Texas (the state) and Texas A&M felt like home to him. And in my opinion, that's the sort of thing I'd like to see more of.
Yeah, pretty much the same boat. Undergrad at Rutgers, grad at A&M. I'd never say which one is better and I'd cry in a corner if both schools played against each other in anything, but in my day to day life, I'm much more connected to A&M.

It might be because my wife went to undergrad and vet school at A&M and she does all my wardrobe shopping for me at AO.

Dated a chick once that did her undergraduate at A&M and Pharmacy degree at UT Austin. She always considered herself an Aggie as did I. She only went to UT for Pharmacy because A&M didn't have one.

A&M for undergrad and LSU for law school. I wore maroon to school there all of the time...during the Fran era :/

I have three examples of related instances.

1. My mother got her BS at Our Lady Of The Lake in San Antonio. She was a PE major but the professors convinced her to become a doctor. She got her Ph.D. At UTMB Galveston. She only wore Aggie sweatshirts or other Aggie clothing and only rooted for tamu wither her two brothers who did attend tamu. She even sang the Aggie songs.

2. Red mccombs played football at southwestern then went to the military two years. Then he came back and attended UT. Business school and UT law school never graduating. He is known way more for supporting UT but in fairness has also supported southwestern a lot too.

3. Practically anyone from Oklahoma roots for OU with few exceptions. This includes many from other universities like Tulsa. I don't know how true this is within Oklahoma but this is overwhelming with the Okies that live in Texas.
