He directly stated he's not prosecuting because they play football and he doesn't want to ruin their lives. In other words if they worked at McDonald's and didn't play college football they would be charged.

He bought the gun a year ago and cooperated with the authorities and turned over the person who sold it to him. Private gun sales aren't tracked and he was under no legal requirement to register the firearm so they couldn't prove whether he knew it was stolen.

Any politician who goes after a Bama football player is likely gifting his elected office to someone else. Yes, the inbreds in Alabama are that fanatical about football.

The DA can "emphasize" whatever he wants in his statement, which was poorly written. Apparently there was an illegal search and seizure by the local police, or at least that is the story coming from the defense attorney. If true, I can see why the DA wouldn't want to include that in his statement.
