Been a couple more than that young one.
I was there. Prairie View was easily the best part of that game.
They were at the 1990 Rice game, too.
That halftime show was fantastic!
PVAMU has a fine band. I hope they put on a fine show when they visit Kyle Field.
The FTAB puts on a great show as well and is renowned far and wide.
Different styles.
As good of a show that PV puts on, they are not even the best band in their conference. But isn't to say that they are not good.

Rice game around 1983 in Houston. The MOB moved the bands field markers. It was absolutely surreal. Early on things started to look odd and by the end of the performance the band was spread all over the field split into groups all facing different directions. It was horrifying to watch.

I wrote a letter to the tu band director after that show. Just wanted to say thanks. True class act on their part.
I second Rice '90. They walked off the field mid performance scattered from one 20 to the other.
I demand a showdown of drum lines in 2016. Our white boys probably don't stand a chance but dammit...they need to step it up.

Through a pretty strong most likely 4 loko and sunny brook haze, I seem to remember the pa announcer was pretty funny too.

I keep hearing about this infamous disaster at Rice. I've looked and have never been able to find any footage of the drill. Does anyone know where to find the footage??
I tried youtube, with no luck. I googled "Texas A&M Marching Band Rice disaster" and an article came up about it. It happened in 1981 and gave several theories as to how it happened. To be honest with you, I'm kind of happy that it's not on youtube; it was a horrible thing to watch and I don't want to see it again.

1974 at the A&M-SMU game in Dallas. Messed up game, and messed up halftime!

November 1974, Cotton Bowl. versus SMU and Louie Kelcher
Smoo cheerleaders had whistles and were blowing them on sidelines. Caused our band to get out of step. Then Louie Kelcher destroyed us and Ags outscored on field 14-18.

I still can't find the BQ Championship Banners anywhere on campus. Wtf?
You just knew you were in for a performance of a lifetime when PV came to Kyle and midway through their performance, half their band put their instruments down to free themselves up to dance!
Anyone who ever marched is cringing at your post. PV is a dance group playing instruments - not a marching band. Quality of music while dancing F. Quality of marching F. Straight lines F. Dancing A+. Should be on American Idol along with the MOB.
