I was going to suggest that we have the best D-line in the SEC, possibly in the country. Too bold?

We probably do have one of the best if not the best D-line in the country. (Depends on how Mack progresses IMO)

Having Myles Garrett is like having a 5 yard head start though in that race.

Until we stop the run, I'm holding off any titles or accolades.

We have An epic, historic d-line and a LB Corps that had to reach out to Mstro to bring his 5.2 whilte boy 40yrd time back to the squad to bring some talent to the group

I think we're ahead of ourselves other than noting that total defense is better (51) and rushing defense is meh (105). Defensive TDs were 2. Passing yards allowed was a positive (4). Passes intercepted we're tied in the lower numbers at #71. The improvement in pass defense can be fairly easily explained by opponents using the run to score on us but scoring defense (#28) was the same as Oklahoma at 22 points a game. That was good enough to win the Big 12 but not for us to improve in standing in the SEC (either divisional or overall).

I like our D-Line. And we are moving towards being able to create a new name on the defensive side of the ball. We might even this very year see improvements across the defense that really establishes us and the D-Line appears to be an integral part of that like they were last year. Nothing to complain about with respect to expectations. I think the staff and the players are hungry for improvement. That's all excellent!

This gets said every year.

The pass defense may be a little inflated since opponents knew they could just run at will. They are a talented group though and made a lot of big plays last year. Hoping to see a more well rounded defense this year.

Are we going off recruiting rankings or actual play on the field? If we are talking about play on the field, we were good, not great. I hope we are much improved this year with another year under our belts.

I'm just saying, objectively...

We have arguably the best defensive end in college football in Myles Garrett (some saying he may go #1 overall in the NFL draft after his true junior year). Daeshon Hall is a second or third round pick at worst after this season, Daylon Mack lived up to the hype (as a true freshman last year) of his top defensive lineman rating, and Zaycoven Henderson would be a worthy starter at DT in most programs.

Putting all those players together into one unit, it is not a big stretch to say that they could be the best D Line in the country this year. Obviously the product on the field will have a lot to say about final rankings, and a good defense needs more than just a great line, but I think most would be hard pressed to find another group of four linemen on the same team in college football that would project to do better this season (especially when you consider that Chavis is running the defense).

That's the job of both DL and LB corps. Our LBs was depleted and inexperienced last year, which is why our run D was porous at times. DL just by itself, yes we have a top 3 DL in the nation I'd say

Top pass rushing DE tandem is possible but when the team leader in tackles is a safety it is not even a good DL.

That's ridiculous; the issue there is linebackers, not the d-line. No matter how good our front four, they are going up against a minimum of five offensive linemen on every play. Without good linebackers we will struggle to stop the run, especially when they line up a TE on the strong (and weak) sides.
