Ole Miss officials have determined that a text message conversation published to Miami Dolphins rookie Laremy Tunsil's Instagram account during the NFL draft did happen last year, sources told ESPN's Outside the Lines, but the school is still looking into whether the messages were altered before they were published.

In the conversations, which supposedly occurred in February and April 2015, Tunsil asked Ole Miss assistant athletic director John Miller for money to pay rent and his mother's $305 utility bill. Miller responds to Tunsil's request by replying, "See Barney next week," an apparent reference to Ole Miss assistant athletic director for high school and junior college relations Barney Farrar.

Farrar told ESPN's Joe Schad last month that he has not given Tunsil money and that Tunsil did not ask him for money. According to Farrar's Ole Miss biography, he "plays a vital role in recruiting, which has helped Ole Miss land three straight top-15 signing classes."

Oh, so now the messages may have been altered. Let's throw that out there and make the media run down that rabbit hole so we can delay and deny and obfuscate even more. What an effing joke.

I'm sure he does.

Why we don't just go full bore and start paying players is amazing to me. If freaking Ole Miss can do it and thumb their nose at the NCAA, how come we can't? It isn't like there is some strong moral reason to follow NCAA rules. The organization is a joke.

I've heard Tunsil speak. He is not capable of altering anything except his mind.

Would you go with a hard salary cap?

Something like MLB, where you pay a luxury tax for overspending might favor some schools, while something like you see in the NFL allows you to disregard the player when they quit playing.

Do paid players become FAs each year or require a trade?

Lots of things to consider.

There is a going rate for top recruits, as hard as it may be to believe. Certain schools like Ole Miss, and another school with a HC known for hiring cheaters, are paying above that rate.

The reality is top recruits are getting paid and the NCAA is doing nothing. We either get with the picture or further fall behind.

From EliteDawgs (I usually question them as a source for OM, but I think this one makes sense):

quote:
OM's new recruiting tool under Freezus is that they have a draft plan for top recruits they recruit. It's pretty damn sweet to be honest. Freezus tells kids they are gonna sign them, OM boosters are going to take care of them and their families while they spend their 3 years in Oxford, then they will be 1st round draft picks in the NFL draft after playing SEC Football. The trick is- they ask that OM people represent them after their time at OM so they recoup their money. This is what happened with Tunsil and it went wrong

OM made their pledge to Tunsil and his family. After signing day- They left their 40K house in Florida (which was an absolute ****hole) and moved to Oxford, Miss where they suddenly lived in a 150K plus house. They had an OM Booster and former player sponsor them for 3 years- spending 200K plus over 3 years- where that Booster was promised he would recoup a million plus once Tunsil signed his NFl contract. He would represent Laremy once he left OM. He was basically investing in Laremy to pay off in 3 years.

Until Jimmy Sexton swooped in. He ****ed everything up. So when the person posted they saw Sexton, Bdork, and Freezus walking into the famous law offices the other day- they were actually going into another office there to hash out an agreement with the guy that had been ****ed over. That guy had shown them and the entire world that he wasn't going to be played for a chump- and OM plus Sexton had to pay the Piper.

How is OM getting top recruits? They are setting them up with booster agents as HS seniors to pay them and their family's way while in college- and these booster agents are getting their cut once these guys get drafted. OM and FreeZeus tried to **** one over- and they now regret it.

This is what is happening in today's college football. Shoe companies supplement kids and families in college basketball- OM is being progressive by copying this model in college football. Be their agent when they are Sr's in HS, pump the money to them for 3 years in college, get them to the NFL draft- then the bennies return when they get drafted. That's how Hugh Freezus is recruiting on a national level folks.

Remember this quote from OM's AD in Feb:

quote:
Ole Miss plans to release the notice of allegations and its response in the future, something Bjork said he's looking forward to doing in an effort to present Ole Miss' case publicly.

"We can't wait to reveal all this," Bjork said. "We're ready to tell that story. We're looking forward to the day to when we can tell this story and put it out there and be transparent beyond what we've already done... We're welcoming that day to tell our story. We just can't do it right now."

I hope this ass*ole never sniffs another job with a university.

Actually sounds legit. NCAA won't do diddly squat about any of it, but sounds legit.

I've never heard of that site, and B.S. rumors on the internet are amost as prevalent as herpes cases at Texas Tech, but every single thing in that excerpt sounds believable and would explain everything...the sudden huge upswing in Ol' Miss recruiting, the hacked Tunsil twitter account, etc.

Let's be perfectly clear, if anybody thinks Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and any other major BCS football program is not paying athletes. You are extremely misguided and naive.

Exactly. And make it equal. This stipend crap is moronic. No wonder our recruiting is limp these days.

"Stipend? Yes, that's true, we pay the least. Please come here anyway."

Soooo dumb in a competitive sport with million$ on the line.

I have seen with my own eyes how corrupt Ole Miss boosters are and from a reliable source, a coveted 5 star can take home a backpack full of cash from an Old Miss OV.

The stuff about the OV's is not a secret in football circles in Mississippi. Almost impossible to be a snitch when Ole Miss boosters are bragging about cheating.

We don't make cookies for recruits and use gang writing to get our kids. We know the kids are taken care of but I will say this I truly don't think ATM pays players as much as Texas and baylor.

I would hate to be an agent for sip. I'd never get my money back considering they are around 0-1 draftees per year.

The thing about women with herpes is you know they put out. That's why I always hang out with the moms at my kids sporting events!
