Oh wow, I called someone out 6 months ago for having a bad case of BAS?

I didn't even look at the link, but I'm guessing this is in relation to Allen/Murray? Or was it some other Texags cliff jumping situation? Honestly hard to guess when zoo posters (like yourself) find a reason to throw a melodramatic hissy fit every other week.

I just don't cliff jump at the tiniest bit of "bad" news... I was often critical of Spav, and wanted him fired earlier than he was. I was ready for Sherman to go, but didn't like the way it was handled. I was often critical of Kyle Allen long before he transferred/melted down against bama.... do I need to continue?

Honestly the things I've acted the most like a millennial (whiny & over dramatic) on has probably been the reseating situation... but that was due to my family having the same seats since the third deck was built and then getting moved to trash seats in the endzone (which we turned down).

Also, had my fair share of melt downs during games... ie Sherman not running the damn ball against arky in 2011(?)

... basically I don't really feel I have anything to hide. So search away...

I just can't blame kids in recruiting process for looking out for themselves. We all look to maximize opportunity for ourselves given choices, and that's nothing new, it was happening well before millennials.

Mazzone was hired to the OC. If recruiting two QB's in a class is too much for a high school jr and his dad to handle, I'm not worried about losing the recruit. As a matter of fact, I'd be glad to replace him with a kid that looks forward to competing for a starting job.

Do you really want a kid and his dad thinking they should have input as to who the school recruits? Plan A or Plan B, if the kid doesn't like it, he better strap that helmet on really tight because that's without a doubt the least amount of adversity he will face in the three or four years of his college career.

It's very obvious that the Martells don't want any QB's to get in his way. Does he think he is just going to walk in here and be given the job over Starkle (sp) and Jake? GTFOH!

You're still missing the mark here, though. It doesn't sound like Mazzone was just recruiting a second QB. It sounded like he was moving on from Martell even being in his plans---which is totally within Mazzone's purview and Martell doesn't fit, I'll trust Mazzone.

I mean aren't some of the talking points around here rationalizing this is that Martell "is too short for the SEC" and "Mazzone had a 6'4" QB at UCLA"...?



Recruits consider playing time. We got Trevor Knight because he saw playing time here. We lost Martell because he was worried about playing time.

I somewhat agree with the Mazzone changing his option A... but I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with Martel's attitude and entitlement issues though (cause/affect flipped). I also think you're over simplifying the issue quite a bit...

There's a difference between a kid looking to earn early playing time due to lack of mature depth, and a kid looking to be given playing time because he's basically the only option on campus (which is more of what Martel was going for).

You have to also consider the option that the statement by the martells father was a way for both parties to save face. He could have easily embellished a bit in order to create an opportunity for his sons decommit to seem warranted, along with Aggie fans to feel like the staff didn't want Martel (aka stop cliff jumping/being drama tards).

I know you're having trouble understanding this, but my actual position all along has been one of level headed responses to the actual situation (not the grandiose situation that melodramatic posters are implying). I just don't feel the situation requires such a ridiculously dramatic response (on both sides of the fence). People getting hyper defensive and reaching out to attack Martel are just as bad as those flipping out about us always being a laughing stock, blaming everything on sumlin, and saying moorehead needed to be fired.

I don't know Mazzone well at all but I was around him in small social situations maybe fifteen years ago & found him to be quite friendly & talkative. I can't imagine his being unfriendly towards a recruit and his dad. That's just not how college coaches work.

I don't care if a recruit looks out for himself. Recruits should during recruiting.

We'll get guys like Trevor Knight because they see a clear path to a starting job, we'll lose some because they don't see a clear path to the starting job.

I didn't have to hear from Al Martell to have a hunch Mazzone was interested in other quarterbacks and that Martell wasn't "his guy."

I don't know if Martell made it all up or not. I know that I said yesterday on this board that I recognize we don't have Mazzone's side of the story.

I don't think think Al Martell would call out the A&M coaches because he wanted to provide A&M folks a "justification" to decommit from their school.
