Here's what I'm hearing regarding the OC search:

Bottom line, barring unforeseen changes the expectation is that Doug Meacham will be announced as our new OC on Friday. He will make around $1.2 million annually and will be given the title of Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator in addition to coaching the offensive line. He will be given complete autonomy regarding his staff and like Chavis have essentially full domain over his side of the ball.

DC and McKinney are out but Meacham may choose to keep Moorehead.

It's interesting to note that it was Meacham who initiated contact with Sumlin. Patterson is apparently pretty overbearing and Meacham wants experience with more autonomy before moving on to a HC job (and a big pay raise helps). Meacham also feels like he has done "more with less" at TCU and wants to move up in the talent world.

The only way this changes is of TCU steps in with a proposal that essentially gives him what A&M is and it's unlikely Patterson, a control freak, will give in.

For perspective, this info sounds as solid as when I posted about Chavis being locked up in the week prior to his hiring last year.

Geez I want to believe, but honestly that sounds too good to be true

Meacham would change a lot of opinions including mine. It would mean the administration is actually behind Sumlin and giving him the means to succeed, instead of setting him up as a lame duck for 2016. And if he cannot thrive with both Meecham and Chavis - at least we can fire him with a clear conscience

No I don't think it means that at all. Look, it is the perfect compromise....

Pro-Sumlin Crowd: Gives Sumlin the OC he needs to turn around the recruiting class and potentially compete next year.

Anti-Sumlin Crowd: Because there is no immediate good replacement this year it gives them a solid interim HC if they need to pull the trigger on Sumlin. Then you test drive Meacham and keep him if it is a good fit. If not, you haven't committed yourself to four years with a new HC and you can have a thorough search at the end of next year.
