Not the first time this has happened. Happened a number of years backs when they were really good.

And it won't be the last time it happens

This player, who may still turn out to be eligible, played at the very end of last weeks game, The score was already 66-0 when he entered.

If the UIL disqualifies Katy for this, a couple thousand pickups will drive to Austin and burn it down.

Meh I could care less...

Katy won't face any serious infractions from this and defenitly won't be disqualified from the playoffs.

It was a transfer student who played a few snaps in a blowout win as it has not been determined he was even ineligible . They are trying to figure out the timeline of events.

And it was Katy themselves who reported this to the UIL.

In this situation they had a kid transfer from seven lakes. JV player. Question centers around if he sat out the appropriate time. He played 1 play at the end of the game on an XP. Supposedly KISD cleared him. The kids last game at SL was against Mayde Creek which was 10/30. He didn't play with Katy until this past weekend. The rule is 15 calendar days that you have to sit if you move in. Seems like plenty of time unless he waited a week or two to start school after moving which doesn't make much sense.

Regardless some coach ****ed up massively. Why even risk it by playing a JV transfer in mop up duty.

It's not a JV player. It's a future 4* recruit that is already being recruited by A&M.

The Katy DQ in 1998 happened 48 hours before kickoff. San Antonio MacArthur replaced Katy in the state championship game and was curbstomped 54-0 by Cedric Benson and Midland Lee.

In 98 the kid in question played 3 or 4 plays at the end of a 40-0 game.

Katy self reported that time as well.

Katy offense has averaged 52 points a game this year thru 13 games.
However their defense has only allowed 38 points the entire season .. Including 9 shutouts.

20 of those 38 points were scored by one team.

So basically in 12 games, 18 points were scored.

Zephyr, he was in on an extra point well after the game had been decided. One extra point. Don't let the facts get in the way though.

I was at the game. If Katy had wanted to it could have been 100-0. Fact is they called the dogs off two series in to the second half. Freshmen, kids with no decals on their helmets and maybe a few band members got to play. I'm under the impression that even given the insignificance of his contribution he was eligible under UIL transfer rules. Pretty well certain Katy self reported to get out ahead of someone else having the pleasure of doing so at a later date.

I was on the bus victory. True story.

AginKaty04 tells the truth. I wasn't on the bus but I was at KHS when it happened. Kid got death threats and his family had to move away.

Team was on the bus headed to Dallas the day before the game.Not the actual game as the original post indicated.
But either way that's brutal.

Yep, it was a Friday. And the buses never actually left the school. Loaded up with the team but never rolled off. Sat there forever and then they told us to go back in the field house. Crazy day for a high schooler. I hope UIL sorts out the current issue.

If that was the case there is no way the game would have been played as MacArthur would not have had time to round up their team and everything. The game was played.

I would assume the game was in Dallas or SA. Maybe even Houston but regardless they likely had to stay a night a hotel prior to the game. That's why they were on the bus.

When we went to state in soccer we have half a week in a hotel.

If they got DQ'd in 98 after a student forged some documentation, how long do you it think it will take to shatcan the season this year. I mean, the coach just played the new kid... in a playoff game... who just happened to allegedly be a 4-star player... so much fail in this decision.

the kid in 98 was a 3rd string tight end who played at the end of a 40-0 game in the Region III finals. He had forged his grade on a progress note to make it seem he was passing the class. The teacher who knew he was failing saw him with his stuff headed to the bus that Friday a.m. and alerted the head coach. He pulled the team off the bus and called the UIL, who very foolishly made San Antonio MacArthur go to Dallas to play Midland Lee the next day - no time to practice, nothing at all. MacArthur likely wouldn't have won anyways, but it was completely unfair to make them play the next day, when they had believed their season over a week before. Should have moved the game a week and changed venues if need be, to make it a fair contest. The UIL was too worried about TV money to be fair about it.

the '98 Katy team previously looked to forfeit several other games for violating a UIL rule about receiving free food from restaurants, but appealed to the UIL and had the forfeits overturned by a 3-2 vote. They were 14-0 headed into the title game against a Lee team that was likewise, and had Benson and Eric Winston on offense.
