"No thanks" to Spurrier. My dad is a Florida alum and I enjoyed rooting for the Spurrier teams of the 90's along with my father, but going that route is a directional step back for the program, not a step forward. (It's easily arguable that he is an upgrade over Spavital, but Spurrier just isn't any sort of a solution other than to say, "we don't know what to do right now, so give us a year with this old guy and we'll try and figure something out in another year.") It just doesn't make any sense.

At this point it been like watching a 3 week long episode Scooby Doo. I'm just ready to take the mask off and see how all the clues line up.

My late uncle was a dean at Florida when Spurrier was there. He hated him, except on Saturdays and Sundays. (They went to the same church.)

Spurrier and Sumlin in a presser together would be hysterical. They would constantly be one-upping each other with quips.

Another point to note is that per Rojo, we pretty much had our guy on October 25. Who could have been in a position to even be talking to anybody with A&M at that time? I feel like that rules out a lot of candidates . During dead period before a bowl game is one thing. Discussing it with five weeks left of the regular season is another.

He's an upgrade from our current school boy OC, no matter how you look at it.

With all the big names being thrown around has anyone seriously thought that it may be someone who hasn't been coaching in a while? Perhaps the Gruden guess isn't so far off? I'm not sure who actually ties in to Rojo's "clues" but I have been thinking about the "HUGE" clue and I don't believe it relates to physical size, if true I think it will be someone no one has mentioned yet but has had a tremendous impact on football in general. Just to throw a couple names out there.....

Brett Favre- great football knowledge and is coaching now but doesn't fit into "clues".
Joe Montana- not sure what he is doing but excellent football knowledge and "Montana", the state, is HUGE, and the "Yellow brick road/City of gold" reference (49ers).
Jimmy Johnson- Has pretty cushy job now and doubt he would give it up.

I know these are wild guesses and I don't think any of these guys would necessarily give up what they are doing now but wouldn't it be fun?

IMHO I believe it's coach Spurrier, he seems to be the "best fit" given the clues.

With all of these pages of speculation, Rojo will be able to confirm any name that gets hired by using someone else's reasoning

After reading up a bit on him, Stitt would be an awesome hire.

I know a guy that played under Stitt at Colorado School of Mines. He says the players collectively thought he was a db. Doesn't mean he's not a good fb coach though.

Ben McAdoo - OC for the Giants

My reasoning:
"HUGE" = Giants
"join Aristotle and Plato"+"Doh!" = Homer (McAdoo is from Homer City Pennsylvania and first coached at his high school alma mater, Homer-Center)
Wears a visor

Not reconciled:
"Follow the yellow brick road" and "Old Time Religion" - Haven't found connections through my exhaustive 2 minute read of McAdoo's Wikipedia page.

You're welcome.

Montana is maroon and silver.

Here is a great article about his offense that includes detailed descriptions. You will note that another Texas school uses some of his concepts on how to force a defense into man coverage.

When I read "stitt happens", I thought it was a Lou Holtz reference. Scared me for a second.

Iowa State announced Mangino was fired on 10/26. So he probably knew on 10/25.

(Sorry if this has already been discussed...I haven't followed the OC speculation very closely)

Major Applewhite...

Major = Huge

Sometimes wears a visor.

"yellow brick road"??? Could that be Mack Brown's teeth?

Not sure about the old time religion though.

This would be a difficult hire for me to be happy about.
