4 forced turnovers and our only points coming courtesy of Myles and Bertolet. Our offense did absolutely NOTHING to help us win. Out of all of their possessions, O.M. walked away with 2 TDs and 3 FGs. Not too shabby by the D considering many of those fields were short ones.

I can't blame the Defense if they were pissed off/exhausted. They held Chad Kelly to a pretty modest performance. *********this thread to hell

those 2 touchdowns were 2 of the first 3 drives, where the defense was gashed over and over. The game was never really in doubt after that. The defense is improved, but how could it not be, improved is still not very good.

Ole Miss had 17 drives. Nearly a quarter of those started on our side of the field. Three others started at or beyond the Ole Miss 30-yard line. Two of the plays on our side resulted in field goals.

When the other team has the ball 17 times and for 36 minutes, you're going to give up yardage. The fact that the defense only allowed 23 points (including those two FGs) means they played really well.

And saying "We were one bad call away from another TD" is stupid. I could just as easily say that Myles was 10 missed holding calls away from double-digit sacks.

The defense forced 4 turnovers and allowed only 23 points. I don't want to hear BS about yards, it is ALWAYS about points and our defense did MORE than enough to let our offense win the game. If we can't score more than 23 against any defense then we deserve to lose. Ole Miss's defense is normally good, but without Tony Conner and Robert Dkemdiche they were just above average, and our offense sh** the bed due to Kyle Allen and Spav.

If we go back 2 weeks and I tell you that our D would only give up 20 points to bama and 23 points to Ol Miss, but we would get blown out and embarrassed, you would say I was crazy.

Defense wasnt great, but they played well enough for us to win the game if our offense had a pulse. I think they look even better when considering the offense & special teams committed 3 turnovers on our half of the field (Kyle Pick, Kirk muffed punt, Kyle/Carson bad exchange) and I believe the defense only gave up a combined 6 points on those possessions, answering with a foced turnover of their own on one posession.

Defense wasnt perfect, but they were easily the best unit on the field Saturday

Uh, "high powered offense" does not translate to 3 pts. Ever. National sports media is on this story big time. Only way out is to come out breathing fire and shooting missiles that hit the target for passes on Saturday. And 40+ pts would be bad either.

Am I wrong, or is the point of having a defense to limit the number of points scored by opposing offenses? Seems like ours has pretty much done that. Our "opponents points per possession" is probably well above the Div. 1 average.

the problem with average yards per possession and other defensive stats is that the aggies get pounded early. i dont remember the drive sequence with bama, but they got up early, old miss scored touchdowns on long drives 2 of the first 3 possessions.

THAT is why everyone is putting the blame on the offense.

The offense is expected to score, they did not.

You could say that our only score was on special teams and our offense didn't score at all. The best our offense could do is get close enough to allow special teams to score once.

Gave us mercy? They had 1st and goal within the 5 yard line and could have taken a knee to run time out but instead they tried to score a touchdown. Our defense shut them down on 3 straight plays. If it wasn't for a penalty, I bet they would have tried to score on 4th down too.

Do you understand the result going 3 and out has on stats and the score?

For the amount of time the D was on the field, the fact that they only allowed 23 points in great. You can't expect a shutout when the O constantly goes three and out.
