Student Bonfire announces 2015 First Cut

The coming of SEC Media Days just makes the countdown to football season feel real, doesn't it?

In much the same way, for Aggies, the Bonfire season's approach imparts the sense that the fall isn't far off. On Tuesday, Student Bonfire inched things that way in updating and revealing the date for First Cut: Sunday, Sept. 13 — a day after A&M plays Ball State in the first game at the new Kyle Field.


And, appropriately, on the day that UNT apparently wanted to pick this fight.



Regardless, more dates are set to be released in the near future.

Burn Night 2014 was the most-attended since Bonfire's off-campus iteration began, with estimates nearing 20,000 on-site — and tens of thousands more watching Aggie Bonfire live-streamed on TexAgs.

So I have been to the UNT one. It is a bunch of wooden pallets stacked near the Apogee stadium. Not sure why they are saying it is the largest. I am guessing they didn't know Texas A&M was still doing bonfires. Aggie in Denton.

We're motivated to announce major developments for Cut 2015. Thanks to the generous support of Good Ags, we were able to relocate this year's Cut to beautiful Tonkaway Ranch, just minutes from campus. After some outstanding coverage in 2014 (culminating in the TexAgs Burn Night live feed) a Cut Site close to campus was imperative to prepare for increased participation.

A Cut Site minutes from campus makes the experience more accessible. The commute also becomes safer. Bonfire has long required butts in seats - no more truck beds full of Aggies. This also means more cars on the road. Limiting their mileage is always ideal.

As an added bonus this year, Tonkaway is primed for Cut from day one. The Woods are already highly accessible, with prime real estate for parking and a Load Site. In sum, we will be able to safely accommodate maximum participation from First Cut, making it possible to hold First Cut on Sunday, September 13. Now, every Bonfire-motivated Aggie will be able to enjoy the full Saturday gameday experience, and be fresh and rested to help Beat the Hell Outta Ball State.
