How long do you want to ignore this user?
Talked to a friend who is part of the Allen coaching staff. He was a bit dumbfounded at the latest twists and turns of Kyler's recruitment as, according to him, that's not how the Murray's handle their business.

While he was unwilling to speculate about circumstances, he told me three things:
1. Spaw's meeting with Kyler last week was neither great nor terrible but he felt like Spav probably left with some uncertainties of where things stood.
2. Kyler contacted the A&M coaches either the following day or day after and basically told them it was his intent to come to A&M, which kind of seemed like a head scratcher given the mediocre vibe from the in school meeting with Spav.
3. Side note - He said Kevin Murray wasn't real happy about how quickly Stidham was offered even though Kyler was first....not that it has any bearing on what's going on now.

This is what I was told from what I consider to be a pretty good source. If staff wants to delete that's fine but I believe this to be pretty accurate info.

This whole thing is just bizarre.

I have no insight into Kyler Murray's head. However, I honestly feel like he went to Austin trying to pull guys to A&M, and not because he's interested in tu.....

I guess I forgot b/c kyler committed so early and we stopped pursing any other QB's

I had no clue we offered him. If this info is solid, then it sounds like kyler is gone.

Fire spavital!!

Joking but not really

If the QB wants to fiddle fart around, he should expect another QB to get offered. It goes both ways...

If Kyler or any of these recruits want to go play in the BDF, then go. Would love to see them in maroon, but I think we'll be just fine with Sumlin and Chavis.

Plus all it will do will exponentially increase expectations at tu, and that is always fun to watch.

Exactly. just like he ruined our chances with Malik by not hiring Gibbs quickly.

Jake Hubenak the QB from Blinn, just started tweeting alot of Aggie $#@! recently. "Aggie FB Life". "Sumlin" "12thMan". I don't know if that's significant or not.

Do only three or four players make a team? I get we want the best, it's about time. But like everyone I was more amazed in 2012 first year in SEC how the team worked together (call it the Manziel factor or whatever). But I hadn't seen such chemistry since I was a student (1994-98) and even then we had issues on team play. Whether Kyler, Mack and company choose us or not, I just hope we don't get awesome 5* studs that are dysfunctional leaders just so we can tell the sips #WRTS. We still need leaders not divas. And maybe this whole social networking angle for recruiting and tweeting is beyond me but how does it provide insight whether they are leaders? plus these kids are looking out for themselves so not much we can do but ride the wave....

If course we offered Stidham. Why would we not? It was way back on June 8 2013. Way before Kyler committed. People need to chill.

To Austin to pull guys to A&M? Please!

He went mid-week with one other recruit. Exactly how does that pull people to A&M?

Logic in the zoo is always special.

We are going to take some sort of QB whether Kyler signs or not.

So I am not sure that says one thing one way or another.

While I have my doubts, if Kevin Murray is so petty to hold a grudge like this and then **** over the program because of such a perceived slight then I will get banned if I say what I think about him. He should have never let Kyler commit if he felt he was disrespected and certainly never let him stayed commit. He shouldn't try to hurt the program if he doesn't like Sumlin. Just don't help it.

The only logical reason for this late push (if real) against A&M is that Murray Sr. is pissed at A&M/Sumlin for something and/or tu is offering too good a deal to pass (and I don't mean playing time or baseball).

I think you can make a strong argument that given Kyler's baseball career and size, if he wasn't Kevin's kid, Stidham would have been the first choice and enrolled by now. If this all goes south, the coaches are probably going to wish they hadn't given into the popular choice between the two.

after looking at the 247 time line for both recruits, it looks like we offered them on the same day.

I noticed that too. However, a player cannot expect that the Aggies (or any team) would not offer another player in their position if they are not firm in their committment.

With all the message board fodder, it's difficult to determine what is true and what is smoke and mirrors when it comes to Kyler.

Don't see a problem with offering both of them. If you're the HC you have an obligation to your team to have QBs on the team that can get the job done at a high level. Since Stidham was ranked as high as he was it would have been silly not to offer him. As others have pointed out numerous times here the last week that Ohio State won with their 3rd string QB who obviously is a very talented QB! Kevin Murray has been around the game and understands that teams try to recruit the best players of any position and let the competition take care of the excesses.

One of the great ironies in this entire saga is that the various sticking points and apparent issues that apply to us for whatever reason do not seem to be issues or sticking points when it comes to the sips.

Logic and reason appear to be taking a holiday.

We're held to a higher standard. Nobody expects the sips to have any standards so there's no reason to be upset.

We offered Stidham way back before Kyler was committed. I believe Stidham was a mid-term enrollee at Baylor, and is no longer a prospect for A&M if Kyler bolts.

Old enough to remember the Lance Pavlas recruiting story back in 1986. Was going to be all world, had a letter from Jackie on his wall from the Pitt/Dan Marino days. We signed another QB from LA as almost an afterthought, some relatively unknown kid named Bucky Richardson. Lance had some good days but Bucky became the legend. If TexAgs had existed then?...................You never know in recruiting.

It will all work out in the end. We are on the upswing; t.u. is on the downswing. Gonna happen.

P.S. I think Twitter is going to be documented in future history as one of the main undercutting factors of the deterioration of modern day spoken English....LOL

Calvin Murray:

Kevin Murray's brother, played baseball at tu. An Aggie colleague of mine keeps in touch with Calvin, and Calvin told him very recently "there's no way in hell he's going to Austin." Furthermore, Calvin apparently loathes Augie Garrido and also stated "there's no way i'd let him (Kyler) play (baseball) for Augie", assuming the two-sport incentive was part of the temptation for Kyler. So there's that.

FWIW

But Augie is going to give Kyler a car. Maybe he should offer Calvin one to get back in his good graces.

Would the Blinn QB be the "insurance" that allows Kyler to RS here and not risk losing a year of eligibility by playing late in the year (think Kyle Allen)?

If there's any reason to believe Kyler wants to play pro ball, then we should recruit other QBs. Not sure why the Murray's would have any issue with that. Besides if Kyler is such a balling stud, what does he care if we get him solid back ups?
