Fair statements. Now let me propose:

Did the TMF do this deal completely wrong.? No. But they could have done a much better job when all things are considered.

I do get a little frustrated when people act like the EDs are a bunch of selfish jerks trying to screw the system. It get a little old and when that theme is constantly repeated and even rebuttals ignored. I feel that affects the general disposition of the average Aggie towards the TMF in a negative way. And I don't think that contributes to the greater good.

I regret that the format changes when post - Aggie'64

Iam a Donor to the Permanently Endowed 12thMan Scholarship Program. We have a $50,000, 4 seat, family lifetime agreement
that includes our two sons, both A&M graduates. We opted to upgrade our 2015
and beyond seating from what we were offered by the 12th Man Foundationand gladly fully paid our Campaign Gift for the next 15 years. We have been season
football tickets since the '70's and proudly support other A&M activities. Idon't post very often, but I am quite concerned about all of the misinformation
concerning the 12th Man Foundation and their treatment of the Permanently Endowed 12th Man Scholarship Program Donorsrelative to the redevelopment of Kyle Field. There is no way I can support the
current lawsuits. We were never promised seats in any specific location. Our
seats did not change after our endowment. I am privileged and proud tobe a dedicated and loyal Aggie. I wear my ring from the A&M College of
Texas with great pride and value my degree diploma from Texas A&M
University, signed by
General Earl Rudder as one of my most cherished accomplishments. I leaned many things during myyears at A&M, but the best and most important is the Aggie Code of Honor - "An Aggie does not lie, cheat or steal, ortolerate those who do." Isuspect most Permanently Endowed Individual Donors are also formerstudents, and all are Aggies! Many, like me, became members of The AGGIE CLUB
before it became the 12th Man Foundation, but in spirit it still remainsthe Aggie Club. I strongly believe that the current 12th ManFoundation attempts to operate by the Aggie Code of Honor! Theyhave a thankless task in reseating Kyle Field for 2015 and have, IMO, attempted
to be fair while realizing it impossible to please everyone. Asa Permanently Endowed Donor, I am, overall, pleased with the efforts of the 12thMan! Here is what I feel allof this uproar is all about and I suspect that we Endowed Donors are at fault!!
We never paid serious attention to the Priority Points System!!
I admit that I never hada reason to really pay serious attention to the Priority Points system or the calculations until our parking wasrelocated from Lot A. I have not always been happy with some of their decisions.
I am still bitter about the changes in the parking. It didn't matter when I was
younger, but now it makes a big difference to us older folks. I suspect most other ED'salso never paid serious attention and totally trusted the 12th Man.Looking back I do not think the PP system and/or calculations treated me
fairly. We received 1,000 PP's for have a 4 seat endowment instead of2,000 Priority Points for a $50,000 donation. It is my understanding that there
are numerous and varied types of endowment contracts. Others have received 500
PP's for a 2 seat endowment.. I feel the PP's credited to each ED should have
been based upon the amount of $'s actually donated for each endowment. I
suspect some ED's benefited by the current system. Our 44 years of continuous giving amounts to morepriority points that does our $50,000 Endowment. We never received any PP'sfor the 4 complimentary season tickets we have received from the time our
endowment was fully paid. We receive no PP's for the annual $2,000 per seat
contribution credit which we now receive. We do not receive any PP's for our 4
Endowed Season Tickets. This amounts to 392 PP's for each year the PP's System
has been in place. This makes it impossible to remain completive or be inspired
by the PP System. For years we were in the top 200 to 300 but today we are just
outside the top 1,000. Thepoint is we are Aggies, let's get the facts, all of facts, before we get all stirred
up. As Aggies we all need to support andwork together to accomplish the goals and objectives our University has established.
That, simply, is why we Endowed Donors, "the problems" even exists today. Because we Aggies responded to A&M in atime of need and in turn received what has turned out to be a very good unexpected
deal. However, for many I am sure, it was quite a difficult decision at the
time we were approached. Personally, we had both of our sons attending A&M at
that time and paying out of state tuition. They were both members of the Corp
of Cadets, wore my 2nd hand Senior Boots and both graduated from theSchool of Engineering. Our oldest Ag graduated in
time to help pay a significant part of our Endowment. Ipersonally feel and sincerely believe that the 12th Man Foundationis doing their best to be fair and has honored their past commitments except
for the PP's system. Gig'em, Aggie '64

Thanks Aggie64

I'm really disgusted that other ED's cannot rationalize the entire situation like you have and understand what's best for all parties, vs what's best for me....and then they choose to sue the university and me (as a TMF top donor) ....all the while saying they love A&M.

Aggie64, thanks for the info, especially on the PP system conversion. I would think you should get credit for either the initial donation or the credit, but not both since they reflect the cash value of the seats. I would also think you should be getting points for consecutive season tickets plus anything incremental you are paying for 2015 forward. To me parking should have been grandfathered, recognizing some spaces have been permanently lost. I think your view on seating is applaudable.

Agree...hope they can offer a 65+ parking area that is either close or offers a nice shuttle from car to stadium or something like that. Only seems right. The ticket location aspect of this is asinine, but I can understand the parking problems

For as much as what we all pay the transportation department in gameday parking fees, it seems they could operate some of those small shuttle carts that seat like 10 or so. I've seen them being operated at other schools. Restrict it to those really needing assistance and not the normal Joe.

If we want to talk greedy, the transportation department fits the bill IMO.

There's two garages proposed and that will be built nearby and connected to the stadium. The one originally proposed for the west side parking lot between the stadium and Wellborn, and then a 1000 space garage connected to the Cain Hall hotel, with a proposed bridge into the stadium.

Parking will be resolved in time.

That's good info, Fitch. I just googled this since it was previously unknown to me. My concern is that Texas A&M will go crazy and raise parking garages all around Kyle Field to appease old Ags who feel entitled to parking 10 steps away from an escalator.

Additionally it seems stupid to build on campus hotel and conference space when College Station is basically nothing but hotel. But I guess an on campus hotel would cater to a very small, very elite crowd.

A&M may tear down Cain Hall, build hotel and parking garage

quote:
A request for proposals submitted by the Texas A&M System Business Development office this week would demolish 40-year-old Cain Hall to make way for a full-service 150-bed hotel and conference center, complete with a 1,000 space parking facility. A pedestrian bridge over Joe Routt Boulevard will connect the proposed facility to the Kyle Field site.

If they build more garages, will they finally allow tailgating in the garages?

Well, more EDs were told to suck it up by a Florida federal judge.

A&M 'endowed donor' season ticket holders lose again in court

quote:
A class-action lawsuit filed by Texas A&M season ticket holders against the university's 12th Man Foundation has been dismissed by a federal court in Florida.

Filed March 19 in Fort Lauderdale, the suit was similar to one dismissed earlier this year in U.S. district court in Texas.

In the Florida case, lead plaintiff Barbara Brunner said the 12th Man Foundation had reneged on its promises to donors such as herself who had paid large sums for various benefits. These benefits included "best available" seats to home games, tickets to away games and "best available" game-day parking for home games, according to the amended complaint filed May 8.

U.S. District Judge William P. Dimitrouleas dismissed the case June 23, stating that the plaintiff failed to establish the Florida court's jurisdiction over the foundation.

Lawyers for the plaintiff did not immediately respond Monday to a request for comment.

An A&M graduate and resident of Fort Lauderdale, Brunner paid $17,500 for a two-seat endowment in 1983.
In 2013, the foundation announced a Kyle Field "reseating" plan as part of the stadium's $450 million renovation. If Brunner wanted to keep the seats she had been using since 1983, she would have to pay $40,000 over 15 years, followed by another $40,000 after that, according to the complaint.

Unable to afford that, she chose seats in another, less desirable, section, according to the complaint.
Her suit accused the foundation of breach of contract and misrepresentation.

I hate the phrase "40 year old Cain Hall".

I believe that an on-campus hotel is actually a good thing. Provides hands on training for RPTS students.

Because the other 50+ hotels in the area are not enough? Please.
