Boney - Why are you mad about the DC hire. Maybe Sumlin has Foster now, but there is a timing thing before it can be announced. You just assume that Sumlin has been turned down by everyone. Sounds like there is more to it with you than this hire.

Thats not how sumlin talks about things. He doesn't even tell you whos being held out because of injury. Why would he be any other than vague about this?

How about the fact that other major SEC programs like Auburn and South Carolina also have still NOT found a DC? Does that mean all three schools are doing a terrible job or just doing their due diligence / not rushing the damn thing to please fans? Especially considering this is bowl season, things don't operate on a standard time frame. Contrarily, Nebraska and Florida found their guys because the ADs were in contact with them before the current HCs were ever fired, probably several weeks ago during the football season. Difference in hiring a DC is that the head coach has the decision, and is strapped for time & meeting opportunities during a football season to search / contact possible replacements, unlike an AD.


Everybody needs to chill the **ck out and stop thinking we are some POS program that can't get anyone worth a damn. Plain and simple no one knows what's going on, and something as simple as time is not always an accurate indicator of finding the right hire.

We are not in a normal period for hiring coordinators. This is typically done after bowl games. Nussmeier went to Michigan after bowl season last year, which is when Alabama hired Kiffin, etc. many schools who might change coordinators do not even have an open position yet. You will probably not see coordinator positions at Nebraska, Oregon State, etc filled until after bowl season either.

Obviously some of these had openings that only became available in January, but thats because thats the period where the carousel happens. In fact, Im not sure it would be smart to hire a DC before bowl games unless he was absolutely your #1 choice, because its likely somebody just as good as your #3 or #4 will be available a month from now when lots of changes are happening.

The only major coordinator job I found in my (not exhaustive) research from last year or so is Kurt Roper who coached for Duke against us in Atlanta but had agreed to go to Florida and news about him came out around Christmas.

All three schools are doing a terrible job and not "doing their due diligence". They should be rushing the damn thing to please fans.

North Carolina only just now fired Vic Koenning. But, Im sure they've done their due diligence and will now immediately hire a new DC...

You guys are nuts man. You want it done already but if it was done by now it would be someone you don't want. This is his hire at A&M if he's gonna make it here long term, which I hope he does. If Ags were still in the big12 it would be done and it would be gibbs or someone like that. Smile ***ers weez in the SEC. Chad Morris will be there waiting for the job in 3 years and Sumlin knows it.

Anyone will be better than sny-er.

But I really hope we have a dc named by Monday.
